For at least 20 years.

I remember being told by Red Coats as early as 1986 to not hang my scarfe over the fence.

As alluded to in earlier posts, because it was covering advertising...

5 or so years ago I was once told by a weslo bloke to take my flag off the fence at Glenelg Oval. Its a rule even at suburban grounds.

we had the same problem a couple of years ago at adelaide oval with the scs, we had the floggers on the ground in front of the signage and got told to move them onto the other side of the fence AND the game was not televised.

At Norwood we are that poor that the sponsors HAVE to sit in the front rows so they can hang their ads over the fence...

That little saga goes as far back as the early eighties, at least. Always has been a taboo allowing the floggers to sit in front of advertising ever since I have been going to the footy.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Hasn't the beer thing got something to do with people coming and going along those rows with no leg room?

Besides, the main issue with Footy Park is the fact you can't take a beer to your seat...

Run by Mormons or Methodists, I'm sure...

btw - shouldn't this be on the AFL board...

The trade off is that at least you can get full strength at Footy Park, at Subi they keep the plebs in control by serving up mid-strength.

Docklands two weeks ago had light beer only. Subiaco last year had mid strength pre-mix cougar cans :o

Yeah, actually I went to one of the AUS v RSA ODIs at Docklands in 2000 and we had to stay in the bar to drink full strength beer.

Thought that was pretty poor.
