I didnt have to go back outside and pay/season ticket clipped, they did it while i was in the car.

but you have to get out when they want to check your boot.

He's talking about when you park in the car park behind the grand stand not inside the ground.

Howso?
It has the best car parking in the league, where else can you get close enough to the ground that your car can get hit by the ball?
And if you're too stingy to pay $4 Colonnades is all of a 2 minute walk away.
Add to that the train station and a bus hub being close by not to mention it being 3 sets of lights away from the expressway.
Christ, Cows and Powder supporters would kill transport/parking like that!

Err... 'glass houses' 'rising blue bottle'???

The 2 clubs you are referring to DID DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !!! :?

They Merged !!! As for 'moving them around all over the place by SANFL'

I would has at a guess, that no one team has had MORE financial concessions than South Adelaide in the post AFL era & what do they do ('06) they BREACH the salary cap!

If you had bothered to READ any of the posts made about SAFC this year ('rising blue bottle'), you might realise that I WANT the competition to MOVE FORWARD.

You never solve a problem by 'throwing good money after bad'.

I believe that the SANFL should return to 8 teams & that means 2 other teams merge.
At present, South & anyone else.

They ARE a joke & until 'people in power' RECOGNISE this, they will continue to BE a joke.

I hate the idea of any teams merging. Some supporters are really selfish about the whole bye issue. Oh no, a week without football. South are one of the last clubs that should merge.

I dont know why the huge interest in making it a 8 team comp. What a waste of time.

Actually they got caught breaching the salary cap. The two phrases are completely different.

Rising Blue Bottle? I guess that must be me!
A few parts of the above appear to be directed at me but I think you may have credited me with a few things mentioned by other people. I never mentioned two other teams, nor glass houses, but I think those comments have a right of place anyway, and seeing as you have attributed it to me I'll have a go at a reply.
Yes, two teams did throw in the towel and merge. On the same hand there was another side that went 8 years on the bottom, they were without a senior coach, an oval, clubrooms, any money, in fact they were up to their ears in debt, and could not field a league standard team in the SANFL. Many considered them a basket case, claimed they'd never recover, and their supporters often got abused just for having the nerve to turn up to watch them.
This is the Morale about the team from "Unley Town".
What did they do about it?
Did they throw in the towel? Did they agree to merge?
No!
They stuck it out with what little they had, and not too long later they won the premiership.
Last year that same club was again scratching the bottom of the barrel, but they have again hit back, and are enjoying one of their better seasons of recent years, and have turned their financial situation around.
The morale of this little tale?
If we had followed everybody's advice and merged we'd be one purely "Double Blue" premiership short than we are now. Survive the hard times and the character will be strengthened for later challenges. I too think South are going through a rotten streak, but I cannot bring myself to ridicule them, (as you have so often) because I feel as though I have been there.
Glass houses? Not sure if you mean I am living in one, or if you are mistakenly quoting me. Whatever, it is strange that an Eagles fan should spend any time (let alone so much of it) claiming any other team to be a "joke", as has been pointed out, you guys threw in the towel years ago.
If you want the comp' to move forward, then that is good, just be prepared to hear from those that have other ideas about how the comp' can move forward. And remember the morale about the team from Unley town. "The hard times make you strong."
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

May have been a different story if an Adelaide Hills team or a team from Burnside was admitted in 1964 instead of Woodville...

But that's another story. Loud Eagle Hooligan, there's no need for trying to ridicule a team that people already know about their current plight. Your suggestions aren't needed really, because South have the money and the area in which to build on. It's just something a new coach and a board working in unison needs to take advantage of.

Well said spell_check.

Funny that Rising can put out a heart felt sob story for South being moved around the place, but can conveniently leave out the fact that West Torrens were crucified in 1964. Pfft. Sturt supporters... hope we make it 13 in a row on Saturday.

That's true Aerie. I also left out that Glenelg lost half their club when the Crows were formed, that West lose all their good players to the AFL year after year and that Port are now getting reamed by the Mr Hyde AFL side they spawned.
Hilarious isn't it!
Next time somebody is wading in to gratuitously hang crap on any of those clubs for the umpteenth time, I will probably type a response containing the above elements, as I have done in other discussions on behalf of the Woodville and West Torrens of old. But that isn't happening here. LEH waved the merger in my face as though it was some sort of justification. I don't think I need to put a whole list of qualifiers about the duress his club suffered when he has taken the gloves off, and gotten the boots into what's left moving of a badly beaten Panther.
Oh well I guess I am just a silly Sturt supporter talking about the issues at hand.

If they began including what I think are mistakes their club has made as part of their attack, it wouldn't make sense not to share my opinion on it, right?

Well, most of what I was reading of your comment was a spiel about how frickin' brilliant Sturt are and how we threw in the towel. A lot of us are still here. People make a club and the people of Woodville-West Torrens have a club they can be proud of.

I'll agree with you regarding ridiculing South Adelaide. There comes a stage where you forget winning and you hope that everyone's club can not only survive, but also prosper, because you know what it would be like without a club. Still, South aren't at that stage.

Yes, that's correct, except for that you don't have to share your opinion, but you are entitled to. ;)

But the thing that irks me is that any level headed fan from any club would agree with what I said about ridiculing a team. However, what happens is that more (or all) attention is paid to the negative comment, and people will go and paint the whole club in that manner, forgetting the positive comments that came from that clubs supporters.

Fair enough Spelly. I agree with what you are saying, and I usually will not make generalized statements about a club as a whole based on what one supporter has said. Unless there are special circumstances. I don't support mergers, but Torrens did what they thought was best for their survival. You'll see from my original post that I made no mention of it, only because I'd hate to see the majority tarnished by the comments of an individual. But LEH goes right ahead attributing such comments to me anyway. Then goes further, using it as justification for his attack in the first place. So to me, it reads as "South suck, rah, rah, rah, we are much better because we merged, so stick that up ya' Blue Bottle!"
Sorry if "throwing in the towel" has hit a sore spot, but I thought it was pretty restrained given what LEH is blurting out.

Sorry, didn't see your response there Aerie.
I wanted to use the Sturt story as a main so I could keep the anti-Eagles stuff to a minimum. As I said before I don't like to lay into a club because of what one individual has written.
I had a lot of respect for the Torrens and Woodville of old. The Eagles that replaced them are by far stronger.
