Vale (from football writing at least Doug, a top bloke and great friend!
Always called things as he saw them, gave objective opinions and wrote great articles IMHO.

As i have said before all the diehards from the clubs know way more about their club than the journos. The diehards see it every week the journos one in 4. They dont have the tv like the afl guys do.

I think the journos do a fair job.

To me Warren Partland loses credibility tipping North on RPH tonight. Not seeing North every week he just doesnt understand they are a 6 goal worse side. He doesnt understand there are a handful of guys at North who wouldnt get a look in at the dogs.

As for doug. He seemed passionate. I thought he was way better than the other writers. Talking to him one night and listening on the radio he seemed passionate. Given that I find it suprising he would voluntarily move on.

Because Warren Partland is a Centrals supporter, he cannot seem to objectively comment on games involving them. A number of times in recent years he has made baffling predictions against them, as he is very conscious of not wanting to be biased in favour of them, so he over-compensates far too much.

But then you'd have Rucci doing the cop shop stories and he'd get eaten alive...

He'd need a soul for that.

He's already sold it to the Devil that is Port Adelaide.

Give me Doug Robertson over Partland any day of the week.

Credibility? What Credibility? He always gives the impression in his articles that he writes them off statistics and not the game itself. This theory was evident last night on RPH when he openly admitted, when talking about the Eagles and tipping them to beat Sturt, that he watched last weeks game v Central on 'the box'.

Aren't these journo's paid to get to games and give proper assessments of our SANFL sides? I'll bet my bottom dollar he was at AAMI that evening watching the showdown in his air-conditioned, catered media area.

He is a joker.

I listened last night. I thought Partland was fine. Had much more to say on the games than Robertson ever did and all that he said were valid points.

I agree Aerie. The only criticism re Warren Partland last night that he raced through reading the teams - needs to slow down and name them line by line.

with the teams and i think it was South Adelaide he raced through the team as if it was just a squad, but then he got to the backline.... :?

I agree. It was hard to follow the teams when they're read so quickly. West's team also didn't have any ins and outs read out.

I agree with you r&b it might not be as important as other games, but still should be given a bit of time for us to hear the changes to our side.

The changes to the side will be read out if they are included in the fax sent to the station. Perhaps ask someone internally why West did not do this. Do not necessarily lay the blame on the journos.

It doesn't take much to either ask for them or work them out.
