What about Luke Norman? He seems to have got himself a pretty good reputation in his short time in assistant coaching. Has been with the Eagles in 2006 and followed MacGowan to Sturt this year. The West job might be a little close to home given he played there only two years ago. Maybe South is a good opportunity for him? He seems a strong character.

Luke Norman attended the Testimonial dinner for Clay Sampson, where he gave a speech. Same day we got belted by Sturt. They are good friends. Sat at our table. Seems like a nice guy. We actually asked him if he would ever consider coaching South. Just smiled, being diplomatic.

All would for varying reasons be ideal.
I think Bickley, if you could prise him away from the news desk would make a fine coach.He has the runs on the board in the respect department.

Would have Mark Bickley for the job in an instant if he was interested, yet like Gary Lyon he is making a career in the media that South would have little hope of offering him a retainer anything close to what he is on now.

But what experience has Bicks at coaching?

Why would that be such a great pick-up? Just cause he's played lots AFL games? You could find 150 options if that's your only criteria.

Is he still in the candidates ring tho? My impression was that he had moved on from coaching a long time ago? Working in the Sports Science area was the last I heard.

Correct- he has moved on from coaching.
Is now involved with horse training & sports science

I like the Luke Darcy suggestion but I reckon he is a monty for an ongoing media gig at AFL level. Has already been more than competent in that area IMHO.
