I rememember it like it was yesterday. The sweetest moment was in the 1905 Grand Final when Port only had one goal in mind and could only manage 1-6 against us, its great beating Port in Grand Finals, its a pity some clubs have never got to savour that feeling.

Hey, who doesn't agree that winning 12 games in ONE season (that's not even finished) definitely means that PROFESSIONAL Sturt are HEROES having a great ERA and RENAISSANCE at the same time? Who needs premierships or consecutive finals appearances?

:vom:

It's good to know that North had an era in 2004 when they went from bottom to 4th.

To all Sturt supporters (or maybe just some ) - Centrals are in a great ERA, Sturt are just having a good season.

The good news for North is this is their 4th year in a row in the finals. If they finish in the 5 next year it will be their first "era" for 100 years

Don't know about anyone else but this thread is the "Real Deal"......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Cool, I like good news! Cheers!
The good news for the Dogs is they might have a powerhouse club to face in the Grand Final this year and not some easybeat like they've enjoyed their only premiership success so far, you'll enjoy the feeling beating a club like Port, Glenelg, North or Sturt if you can ever manage it (zero out of three so far), trust me, its special!

My alarm clock went off at 6am, the radio was playing "I Got You Babe", bumped into the hotel maid who asked about breakfast, and then bumped into Ned Rierson in the street who tried to sell me insurance...

Then I logged on here and what do you know...another SP thread.

From 1985 to 1991 in 7 seasons we only missed one finals series, played in 5 grand finals and won 2 - that surely is a great era even tho it doesn't quote fit the criteria of 5 consec finals series

Not to mention the early 70s when we not only won back to back flags against Port and played in the greatest grand final of all time and were the best club in Australia. Couldn't see too many SANFL sides beating Geelong at the moment.

LMAO @ Wedgeman. I hardly think the majority of SANFL football supporters class NORTH or the Palindromes as Powerhouses of the Comp! Glenelg have won four flags, North a similar number since our inception into this great comp...

If you ask any of the 18,000 to 20,000 that visited or partied on at The Ponderosa after the 2000 win would claim it was just an ordinary team we beat. They were minor premiers, and although had not won a flag for seven years, were a worthy opponent. Further - how many here were at their Club's FIRST premiership win. :D :D :D :D :D

Similar number????
I would hardly call 13 a similar number to 4!?? :?

PS Good point about the Bays not being a powerhouse though.

Met SP at Adelaide OVal last year when Sturt were down and out.
Loves his club, loves the comp his club plays in.

Keep up the passion, SP. You're up there* with Dean Lukin in 2007!!! :D :D

Open eyes, Wedgeman. Context.

North a similar number SINCE OUR INCEPTION - 1964...

FWIW, I think you've won less, but I'll accept you were just plain wrong! :-)

Newsflash, the competition started a long time before Centrals joined the league mate.
In fact one could argue it was more prestigious prior to the AFL than it is now. (I wouldn't)
But if you do want to be selective how many times has Central been the champion club of Australia since their inception?

So it started a long time before we joined - big deal. You left Norwood off the list - any reason?
My comment was factual, you just mis-read it.

I think our game against West Adelaide in 2003 was the better of all seven - their list was awesome, look at where a massive number of their players have gone to since that season. Westies are no powerhouse of the SANFL, but that was a great team of experience, talent, and up-and-coming ability to defeat.

North a powerhouse - okay, we'll give you that. We're batting 100 against North 'the Powerhouse' in Finals, I feel much better now.

Yes, because I don't think they'll make the finals this year, bit hard for them to make the GF if they don't make the finals mate.
