Not a good year for the Wundke family. Michael copped a fairly large hit earlier in the season and it looked like he had absolutely no idea where he was.

Astounded that there was no witness in either a player, official or spectator could be found for the SANFL to use for its investigation. Only suspicious thing now is the silence of Number 4 from Glenelg in the media.

Well, the one place on the ground where a player could be felled unseen would be the backline - the sturt defenders would have been watching the ball downfield not checking for snipers* behind.
*(or players accidently knocking themselves out)

Given that an act can still be reportable even if unintentional it's difficult to come up with a scenario where Kirk wouldn't be spending weeks on the sideline if there was even just enough video evidence to prove he was standing next next Wundke when he went down. The contact was high and it was hardly incidental - it was enough to put Wundke out for a week.

If the Football public are out to hang him then why not say something? Unless what he has to say will 'incriminate' him. If I was in his boots and seeing me painted as a thug when the polar opposite applies I would be putting it out there my version of events. Silence only promotes the presumption of guilt.

For all we know it could be a case of the little niggle players give each other when on the field gone horribly wrong. I have seen it happen countless times at all levels of football. Opponents bumping each other behind the play to gain a mental edge over them.

I agree. No one saw it, which is very unfortunate. BUT...If it was me being talked about like this, and I knew I didn't do it, then I would need my version to be made public.

Let's face it, there are 3 possibilities..

1. It was a rare "football collision", with some force involved, off the ball, OR
2. It was a "king hit", off the ball, OR
3. James had an epileptic fit/ heart attack/minor stroke and fell on a player

If there is nothing to hide then "the player" needs to make a statement about what happened.

He can chose to stay silent, but silence does tend to imply guilt (just from my jury service experience).

Don't bring logic into it Purch , the emotional ones don't like it. Never argue with logic when people don't think logically. ;)

Is it just me or does anybody else think this whole sturt complaining thing may be a smokescreen to throw off two facts.

1. A young 3rd gamer was also felled and this was witnessed and nothing done about it...neither Glenelg or the sanfl. he also went to hospital for checks on his jaw.

2. Sturts poor performance on and off field this year.

Firstly, I hope the lad is Ok and returns asap.

Secondly, if something occurred that was not within the rules then let natural justice takes its course. The severity of the injuries doesn't necessary have anything to do with guilt or innocence.

Soders on the ABC allegedly saw a "king hit".

If the report is true, the severity of the injury will tell us about the callousness of the perpetrator. i.e. I don't think you could call it "sport"

i reckon it might have been this shite that started all the carry on

James Wundke

NOT WELL: James Wundke is stretchered from the field after an incident at the Bay last Saturday. No report will be laid because of a lack of witnesses and video evidence. Source: AdelaideNow

STURT Football Club says it is frustrated the Glenelg player understood to have been involved in an off-the-ball incident which left Double Blues player James Wundke bloodied and concussed last Saturday will not be made to front the SANFL tribunal.

Double Blues CEO Matthew Benson said the club considered lodging its own report to the SANFL over the Bay Oval incident but could not find any evidence.

No umpire or official sighted the incident and a video review conducted by the SANFL failed to "clarify how Wundke's injury was sustained".

No report will therefore be laid.

Play was stopped for seven minutes during the third quarter of Saturday's match, following the incident, and Sturt players remonstrated with Glenelg player Daniel Kirk, who was Wundke's direct opponent.

A dazed and bloodied Wundke was fitted with a neck brace, stretchered from the ground, and hospitalised.

He was cleared of serious injury and discharged later that night.

Benson said he was "amazed" and "frustrated" there was no video or other evidence to shed light on how Wundke's injuries occurred.

"Amazingly there was no vision and not one umpire, player or official has seen it," Benson said.

"It's one of those situations where what happened, the guy got away with.

"The disappointing thing is that something as serious as this has transpired and there will be no outcome other than one of our players being pretty badly injured.

"You would hope things would be different but they're not going to be."

Benson stopped short of calling on the League to ensure all parts of the ground were video taped in matches, saying that was something the SANFL had to consider.

Comment is being sought by the SANFL on the issue.

Benson said Wundke's concussion was serious enough to rule him out of Friday night's clash with Port at Adelaide Oval.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it says in the article ''sturt players remonstrated with Glenelg player Daniel Kirk''

it the says "Amazingly there was no vision and not one umpire, player or official has seen it," Benson said.

why would sturt players remonstrate if they didn't see anything ?

i believe daniel was today going to contact sturt & tell them what happened & then talk to james

i think james should come out & say what happened from his pov

i don't believe daniel would do anything as dirty as what he's been portrayed as doing, infact i often think he hasn't got enough 'mongrel' in him during games
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
