quite interesting the power situation. in fact its absolutely sensational.

The future hopefully will be that crows and power have reserves sides in an afl reserves comp. this takes port out of the equation and we are left with 8 teams and no bye.

The best bit will be actually looking at how long the One club can manage it from a financial viewpoint!

I don't see how the AFL situation is any different to the loan process in soccer, which seems to work well across the world.
The parent club continues to pay the player's wage, while the loan club plays the player how they believe he is needed to fit their structures - looks pretty similar to what is going on now...
So why are our AFL clubs getting so upset about this?

If an AFL listed player can't work out his side's structures whilst training full time with his AFL club, he's going to struggle anyway.

Agree completely DW.

Only difference is that SANFL clubs only get them on game day and on Monday they go back to their employers for training

OK equal top. Whatever!

If you lot are going to stroke each other over a few percentage points as the basis of your argument, good for you.

Fact remains, you're fast running out of reasons to continue spruiking your so- called "basket case" claims.

But you'll do it anyway, because hatred and jealousy is ingrained in your collective psyches.

It's only round 2 and you are by no means out of the woods yet.

Seen plenty of newly promoted EPL teams sitting pretty early in the season for it all to go down hill from there....

With some future good sense all Port Adelaide players will be based at Alberton

The crow players should also be based in a single club/arm of the crows.

It's good to see you don't mind selling out over 100 years of tradition to support your AFL disaster

Port Adelaide joined the AFL competition in 1997, that is my priority. The Port Adelaide Magpies should always have been our seconds team.

The SANFL stuffed things up in 1990 (& before that) & in 1996.

Port's history is where our main team is based.

Port's history say in 1950 is based on our league team, not our reserves. Port's history in 2013 is based on our AFL team, not our soon to be seconds team.

Just because teams like the Roosters are in a competition that is growing more irrelevant by the day, don't take it out on the most successful club in SA footy.

The SANFL stuffed up by giving a team no other SANFL team's supporters would ever relate to strongly the second AFL licence, and by believing, unrealistically, that the supporters of its origin team would maintain sufficient numbers to make it viable in the AFL.

Port Adelaide stuffed up by trying to get into the AFL behind everyone's back and force getting the first licence, triggering the formation of the Crows who recruited most of the non-Port supporters in SA, before the Power were formed. Port is now alienating football supporters more by using the same back door tactics to try to force the SANFL to let them turn the Magpies into a reserves team in the SANFL league competition.

The Crows only bought in after the "one club" move began by saying, "If they get a reserves team we'll want one too."

Port's consistent message is that they care nothing about the good of football in SA, just about the grandiosity of Port Adelaide.

See that's where you let yourself down. Even when making what might be considered a couple good points, you go and let yourself down with more trite, baseless, rhetoric about an allegedly struggling Port Adelaide, that happens to have attracted a multi-national as major sponsor and happens to be currently sitting on top of the AFL ladder.

I dips my lid to you ... beating Melbourne and GWS, the powerhouses of the AFL.

Book the premiership celebration now ...

Oh, and did you make any money in your last home game? Sorry, I can't hear ... oh, hang on, what's that? ... didn't get a big enough attendance to make a profit? Oh, I see ...

Probably not with the bogus crowd figured they reported. But hey, the awesome SANFL would've taken their money of course.

Pull your heads in people. We all hate Port, but the SANFL is an absolute joke and a pissant competiton ! Leigh Whicker is clearly lining his pockets off both AFL clubs.

But hey, as long as the SANFL is the second best comp in the universe !

sanfl will be dead in a few years any way. guys transferring to amateur football where more money is involved. Kids playing school footy due to more scholarship being given. And once they sell of the crows and power license then they are dead. No income to support the running of the comp so it just won't survive.

lol, so being the landlord on the venue that the afl sides expect to use wont generate any revenue for the sanfl? just because they dont have the licences anymore, doesnt mean they wont get revenue from afl games in adelaide. it probably means that the sanfl will have more money, they wont have to take out any more loans to prop up the failing power  now who is making stuff up?

Without buying into these same old same old arguments, wasnt the original plan on moving to Adelaide Oval that it would be a clean stadium that the AFL clubs could sell sponsorship signage etc ?

So that makes Port middle of the road for about 14 years.

Both clubs are suffering their worst ever droughts.

Hopefully North's ends soon.

Nah, cant agree with that. ;)

Anywho, has the SANFL made any comment about the most recent of player movements?

The fees we get off you for using AO should be sufficient. The SANFL will be getting income of the Crows and Power forever. The land at West Lakes should fetch us a bit aswell.
Maybe we could also charge both AFL clubs a yearly fee to have a reserves side in our comp ;)
