He can play a lot more than some of the others that continued to get chance after chance ahead of him! If you're going to talk over-rated then perhaps look at Sam Fairclough- Ron's golden child!

:ymapplause: Well said ,Fairy is a joke ( unless he improves 10 fold) He shouldent get a look in now Fullazaboot is gone .Rayner is a heaps better player than fairy.Fairy should do him self a favor and go down to Henley and take Hicks with him ,the only thing is most people at henley dont want them or rate them either

Fairy will have one more league premiership than Rayner ever will. I am sure the folks down at Henley would love Hicks and Fairy back.

Well said mate, whilst Fairy hasn't improved as much as everyone hoped, he has made valuable contributions, and will continue to get better. he's 19 years old! Hicksy has shown glimpses aswell. Henley would welcome both of those boys back with open arms aswell, anyone with any sort of a clue would realise.

Rayner also has alot of talent, but lacked the commitment. I know for a fact that Ron Fuller rated him very highly. Hopefully he can give it a big crack this year.

I have a lot of respect for Fuller (hence the name) but he got it very wrong with Fairclough. When he arrived on the scene as a 16 year old and played a couple of games, including the GF, supporters (and perhaps the coach) thought he would be a sure thing for the AFL largely in part due to how physically developed he was.

Obviously this is one attribute that will help make a good footballer but the main thing is to be able to show the ability to find the ball. This was something he didn't show then and doesn't show now and is the main reason he was overlooked for the AFL.

I would not send him immediately to Henley as some on here believe. However he has to be judged on what he does on a week to week basis and his usual games that end in <10 possessions cannot be allowed to keep him in the league.

A fresh perspective is just what the Eagles needed so I am looking forward to how Godden perceives a lot of our players.

Was anyone else impressed with young Reserves player Nathan Batley towards the end of the season?
Very clean hands off the ground, or in the air, strongly built wingman, halfback flanker at approx 183cm who finds the ball often and kicks well. Expect him to get his League chance by mid season. (And I'm not his father!!!!!!!).

No arguments from me, was consitently impressive, nothing flashy just got the job done.
Trust the process.

Boydy wants to go to the Eagles, the Eagles want Boydy. But, my mail is that South have told all interested Clubs that they wont accept anything less $45k as a transfer fee, paid in full before they release him - done because Ronny didn't want him to go to the Eagles or Centrals who both tried to negotiate the transfer fee....

Central and Eagles dropped out based on this, leaving North as the only Club left...

Sorry to dampen your mood Eagles supporters, you've got enough recruits now anyway....

Thought that disputed interclub transfer fees want to the SANFL for settlement. Thought there was a maximum limit for a transfer fee based on the level of achievement of the player. Used to be $25,000 don't know what it is now!!!!!!

The difference is that he is still under contract to the SAFC for 2010. The SANFL cant do anything about that and South can if they wish to have him stand out of football for 2010. He can negotiate again with other SANFL clubs and perhaps get the SANFL involved in 2011 to negotiate the transfer fee with South if he wishes to, assuming that another SANFL club still wants his services.

Now that is interesting Sojourner .In the other south topic on Ron Fuller there is a dispute about whether all the players had signed contracts .

Not sure if mentioned before, but former Adelaide 36er Peter Hoban is training with the Eagles. Good mobility, good size (obviously) and pretty good skills.

Hope he goes well, he's a good fella.

Just to be a stand out here I wasn't overly impressed but saying that .young bately is very young .Needs to grow into that tall frame a bit more for my liking .Ron was trying to pull rabbits out of his hat late in the year IMHO
But give him a perhaps a year or two Bately not Ron ;) .

Any news on why Tommy Holmes has quit the Bays? Would be an ideal pickup as a young, quick crumbing rover who has already starred in league games. But.....having paid transfer fees for Parry and Welsh, isome may consider it irresponsible to fork out another hefty transfer fee. Balance the cost of that versus the cost of re-location (and transfer fees) of an interstate player plus effort of setting him up in a job. At least we know that Tom Holmes is capable of playing top quality league footy (we chased Biagi and Cheep without knowing whether they could play to standard).

Get Tommy Holmes!!!

New Eagles recruit Scott Welsh was at training last night.
Brad Dabrowski has now committed to the 2010 season with the Eagles.
Good to see Kym Hodgeman and Rhett Biglands at training.
Sam Fairclough is currently considering his future at the Eagles, was not seen at training last night.
