I wouldn't give the boy from Tuscany any credence but if we play hypotheticals, the SANFL clubs with no money would be a good place to start looking ...

He said the vote would be 6-2, so only 8 clubs get a vote?

There's 9 delegates ... 8 SANFL clubs (Port Magpies lost their seat when they became One Club) and Rob Kerin as the Country delegate.

none but saw him play for the power last year and if he is able to play like that at the elite level of the afl then he clearly would be able to play a high level in the sanfl.

Just to clarify the vote situation, the two in favour is only to play AFL Reserves in the Reserves not the League if the logistics based on a sound plan are there. So it is an 8-0 vote re playing in the main comp.

For about 20 years. Like it or not. Never top, never bottom. Middle of the road.

I for one quite like it that way. :D

Good try but if your going to try and win an arguement then use my full statement as written not edit it to try and make yourself look good with your pathetic payout!

None thought so!

Playing for Powers side last year wasn't an achievement to brag about

Even James Sellar has had a couple of ok AFL games doesn't mean his clearly in the best of any SANFL sides

Ahh, that hoary old chestnut.

8 SANFL clubs are independent of Port Adelaide, exist to win SANFL flags, and have the right to field players as they suit in order to achieve that goal. The 8 SANFL clubs are doing Port (and the Crows) a favour by letting them field their offcasts in their league sides.

By all means, play your players where you want - but if you choose to do it in the SANFL league ranks then respect those SANFL teams for what they are, viz. NOT a reserves comp for AFL players.

With some future good sense all Port Adelaide players will be based at Alberton

The crow players should also be based in a single club/arm of the crows.

It's good to see you don't mind selling out over 100 years of tradition to support your AFL disaster

Port Adelaide joined the AFL competition in 1997, that is my priority. The Port Adelaide Magpies should always have been our seconds team.

The SANFL stuffed things up in 1990 (& before that) & in 1996.

Port's history is where our main team is based.

Port's history say in 1950 is based on our league team, not our reserves. Port's history in 2013 is based on our AFL team, not our soon to be seconds team.

Just because teams like the Roosters are in a competition that is growing more irrelevant by the day, don't take it out on the most successful club in SA footy.

but when you play against quality opposition and go pretty good then that means you are capable of playing at the elite level. then when you do go back to the second rate comp and grab and get in the best players then I think it's safe to say you are worthy of playing in the league side. If there was a specific reason why north didn't play him in the league side then north would of come out said so. and as at the moment they haven't given a reason to why he wasn't selected in the league side i'm sure it's safe to say they did because they disrupt their league side by a player thats probably going to be coming and going all season.

If the current presidents stay the same as they are now at the 9 SANFL clubs there WILL never be AFL reserves in the league SANFL comp.

Port will either have to settle with the reserves SANFL or beg the AFL to create a reserves comp for their players to take part in.

LOL ummm doesnt the non selection give you the answer. THEY DIDNT BELIEVE HE WAS IN THEIR BEST 21 TO BEAT THE CENTRALS SIDE WHICH THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE UP AGAINST.

And what you expect North to come out publicly and tell Port fans why he wasnt selected. Here's a tip i bet you the North board dont give a 5hite about the Port fans and their concerns. Any discussion they would have had on this matter would have been to the Power coaches in private.

Hell, read through this thread and it's apparent so many Power fans believe the SANFL revolves around them. Suggestions to the contrary are rebutted with the old "everyone hates Port" complex.
The arrogance of some of you has pushed me way into the opposing corner. I just want what's best for the SANFL yet somehow that's just my blind hatred of Port talking?
About impossible to debate with some of them.

I just love the irony of the whole situation.

The Pahhhhhr are so outraged by the fact that a player that they didn't pick last weekend, didn't get to play SANFL league... that they're aggressively pursuing a policy that will likely have the effect that none of their players who they don't pick on any given weekend, will get to play SANFL league.

Serious question: does anyone foresee a scenario where the Port Adelaide Magpies still are a part of the SANFL league competition from 2015 on? How would that work?

we all know he was in their best 21, so stop trying act as if he wasn't. If they had a good enough reason why he wasn't they would of said so, to save them looking like idiots for not picking him.

yes but don't see the there in probably 2017 because there won't be a sanfl competition with the way it's going.

To be fair there's not much difference between North Adelaide's best 21 and the Power's best 21
