Are either of the Menzels signed? (not sure what length of contract they had).

I keep hearing Troy is going to TTG but I for one would find that strange given he wishes to coach.

Anyone?

Spoke to both on presentation night, both said they were very keen to go on next season. Have not heard anything to the contrary.

Eagles website officially confirms that Von Bertouch has retired.

A very good player for the club who started as a key forward then spent the majority of his career for us at CHB where I think he was up there amongst the best in the competition for this position. He reverted back to a key forward under Sheedy and provided us with a strong marking target last year alongside the Hayes brothers. This past season probably didn't go as he hoped but that won't shadow what has been quite a successful for career. Good luck with whatever comes next - still young enough to be playing amateur or country footy for many more years to come.

During VB's prime playing years in his early to mid 20s we had a few pretty good key forwards - Grocke as well as Passador (early on) then Wundke and Ainger at the end so it was always going to be difficult for VB to establish himself in our team as a key forward.

But I think had he been given the opportunity as a 22-26 year old he had all the traits to have excelled in that position and to be a consisted 30+ goal forward. I think during that period he might have had a year off to go travelling?

However during that period from about 2010 - 2020 we didn't have a huge amount of height in our backline and he quickly became a critical player to be able to match up on opposing talls. I don't recall him ever missing a match due to injury and never got reported.

I believe he was originally from the Yorke Peninsula so another success story from that area.

The Panthers sign Harrison Gunther.
Tasmanian utility Harrison Gunther will swap Glenorchy for Noarlunga having signed a two year deal with the Panthers.

The 22-year old has also spent time in Melbourne playing two games for the Western Jets and four games for North Melbourne's VFL side.

In 2021, Gunther returned to his home club Glenorchy Districts where he has played 66 games in the Tasmanian State League.

Averaging just under 17 disposals to go with his eight marks a game in 2021, Gunther is strong overhead and will provide the Panthers plenty of options with his versatility.

Oliver Davis signs with the Panthers.
The Tasmanian will head to Flinders University Stadium in 2022.

The 19-year old spent the last part of the 2021 season with the Crows SANFL team.

The midfielder made his debut in round 7 against Norwood where he started off with a bang collecting 26-touches.

In 2020, Davis took out the Matthew Richardson Medal, which is awarded to the Tasmian State League’s best under-23 player.

He also took home the Clarence Roos Best and Fairest in a break-out year for the teenager.

Averaging 16 disposals for the Crows in 2021, Davis is a gritty ball winner with clean hands.

Senior Coach Jarrad Wright is excited for what Davis will bring to the Panthers in 2022.

"Ollie has shown some very good growth in his game this year with the Crows, his contest work is terrific and has a high workrate." Said Senior Coach Jarrad Wright

"He comes into our program with some league experience and adds to our youthful talent that is coming through our pathway. Ollie will add value our midfield with his stoppage craft and will continue to develop under senior players of Bryce Gibbs and Ben Heaslip"

Surprised the Crows didn't take him under the new father/son rules.

In fairness the only reason he left was because he was frustrated recruits who weren't as good were getting paid more to come to Woodville than loyal players brought up through the system. From what I've heard that has been addressed and fixed in recent years at Oval Ave.
Huge loss for North, and awesome get for the Eagles, he's a great player and he's not the mercenary some ignorant Eagles were making him out to be a few years back.
The way the Eagles are run atm is top notch, credit to all down there.

A couple of clubs were chasing ex Hawks big man Michael Hartley, but have missed out as he signed with Collingwood's VFL side.

He would have been a good get, one of those blokes who is a very good second tier player
