Must confess, I have no idea, and no real interest in the eagles finances other than to say thanks for the $31k you gave our club for the "loose cannon" as one of your supporters termed him. I understand that league rules state that it costs $25k to transfer a player coming off an AFL list (ie Welsh from Westies) between SANFL clubs. I can promise you some substance in those numbers.

Must also admit that I can't pretend that my mob's backyard has been overly scenic in the last few years, but with some capable on-ball recruits already secured, hopefully some tall timber to come (must be sh1tloads left in the cap now with the two rock-stars gone), and the attraction of the first coach of any substance to ever commit to an SANFL club south of cement hill; I'll bet you any money you like, our club will climb more ranks on the ladders than your merged, internally split conglomerate will?

No interest in the Eagles
Why keep posting in an Eagles topic ?
And do u really think players will flock to noarlunga whatever your smoking must be good.

I think Wedgie said it best in another topic and I'll paraphrase him .
Your offered 30 k to play for the panthers
or 20k to play for the bulldogs
I'd travel up main north rd .
I hope thats ok Wedgie ;)

And my information from a south player says your almost close at 31k but still way to high .

Perhaps you should start a panthers topic keep you interested over the off season. And just one more thing you lower clubs that cant beat us always brings up the old merged club thing .

Looking forward to our first clash with south in 2010 .
I'll be there will u

"almost close ... but still way to high"

I assume this "south player" you talk of working with is former south player Jarrod Wright, seeing you have already noted you are not currently at work due to an operation, but are a regular at training. :o

being the fringee he is, he's obviously also played a big role in your midset at Fuller was a dud?

Wrong again a current South or Panthers player

If he turns out to be a good 1st ruck its worth losing him for 1 game.
All be it our fist in 2010 seeing we have him for 3 yrs .

Bunton wrote:pretty sure I read he's going over easter - that's round 2! ;)

And considering he gets back the Friday before Rd 3, you'd think he'd miss that as well. BUT, I assume with the "new culture" GOD is creating, he'll be rewarded for this trip by being rushed straight back into the one's in Rd 4, so he's primed for the Rd 5 Fuller - Parry Cup at Noarlunga Oval on easter Monday ... assuming he has not done his shoulder by then.

Bunton, you seem to be pretty close to the action down there at Noarlunga... Keep up your cracks at our Club, its taking the heat off of your stinking mob for five seconds. Sometimes you need to take a longer term view of things, because a player misses two rounds of football in a semi professional comp you get rid of him altogether?? Such a short sighted view. Not surprising from a person from South though.

close enough to the action to have heard enough about Parry to understand that we are better off without him

If only I had a dollar for every time a supporter in every sport said something as shallow as that when good player leaves the Club they support..... Denial is a wonderful thing, all of South Adelaide's problems were caused by Craig Parry and James Boyd..... Funny, they've both been picked up by the most stable off field club's in the comp from the last 10 years........

Says more about the Eagles and Centrals thinking that they can manage them and South Adelaide again not being able to manage themselves.

Bunton...Get the huge chip off your shoulder. The old crap that you promote about our amalgamated club is past history. Just because my club was formed out of two previous SANFL Clubs this does not mean we have twice as many to choose from in our local suburban area. Each club is allocated zones/areas based on the number of males 20 and under and these are roughly equal. The disgraceful aspect of South Adelaide's situation is that SA has not taken advantage of their suburban zone running in to their very strong country zone, not like some clubs with dislocated country zones which make it a lot harder for country kids to be able to train and play with their SANFL team. In reality South Adelaide should be the Bulldogs of the south.

Also why didn't you come out publicly about Parry's alleged behaviour problems while he was playing for you.......gutless.

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club would like to announce Kym Hodgeman and Bob Cross as Assistant Coaches to our Senior and Reserves teams respectively for the 2010 season.

Kym Hodgeman

Hodgeman played 244 games for Glenelg and 91 games for North Melbourne during a decorated career which spanned 16 years, in which he won 4 Best and Fairest Awards (Glenelg 3 - 1977, 78 and 89 North Melbourne 1 - 1984) a Magarey Medal (1978) and was named All Australian in 1979.

He coached Glenelg in 1991 and 1992 after Graham Cornes left to coach the Adelaide Crows, taking them to a losing Grand Final in 1992. Although having no formal coaching positions since this time, Hodgeman has maintained a keen interest in the SANFL competition and has acted in various specialist positions on an adhoc basis.

Kym will assist League Coach Michael Godden on a ‘full time’ basis, attending all training sessions as well as having a role on match days.

Bob Cross

During a coaching career that has spanned 32 years, Bob Cross has had the honour of coaching the All Australian Amateur team on 3 occassions, including 2 tours of Ireland, and the SA Amateur team on 9 occassions.

The majority of his time coaching in the SAAFL has been spent at Woodville South where he has led the Club to 4 premierships during his tenure. Bob will be assisting Reserves Coach Craig Smith and will provide the coaching group with some added experience.

I wonder how much more $$$$$$$$$$$ the football department at Oval ave has in its budget for next season compared to the season just gone?

A full time assistant is very interesting.

No need to call anyone a moron. As i said in my post i asked about the $$$$ spent in the whole football department. If he is a full time assistant at training and match days is he doing that for free :? .

I think it is "full time" in terms of football commitments. Most assistant coaches don't attend or are required to attend all sessions. Hodgy obviously is being remunerated to do so.

In many ways it is a good move a senior experienced coach to mentor the new league coach. It is the way elite sport is heading, havng formal arrangement with mentor coaches or a coach to coach the coaches. Not saying that is what is occuring here as Godsy will be "the man" but I know at the AIS they have those types of positions.

But your point is valid wyc a "full time" assistant will be at least 5 figures....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Think they are making the point that there is one assistant this year who is full time, compared with two in previous years who came to the 'odd' training session. I take back my moron quip and apologise.

Apology accepted. Is Rhett Biglands viewed as an assistant or just a ruck coach?

Is Kym the only assistant to Godden?

I read into this that Hodgeman will be his only assistant, with others, eg Biglands coming in sporadically to help out in a specific area.

Not sure though, maybe CD can shed light?

My question was a genuine one. Fuller was part time and Godden is full time, obviously more money involved there. With a full-time assistant, assuming that is costing more than the part time equivalent, and the rest of the football department i am making the assumption, rightly or wrongly that the Eagles have put much more money into the football department this upcoming season than they have in the past. Not saying it is a bad thing just interested in peoples thoughts. Is this the path more clubs will go down in the near future?

I think WYCBLOODS what has happened at the footy department or the club and this is my personal thoughts only .Over the last 2 years we seem to have had a bit of a bloodless coup so to speak or in with the new and out with the old.
By this I mean new CEO new president and finally new coach.
New ideas new ways of thinking and doing things.
We as football club memebers are now better informed via email than we were .More Memeber friendly board ceo etc.
All this has led to a new coach and hopefully the next step is a flag .
