Go for the Eagles, because I can. I went for North for a bit, because my uncle's brother played for them, and early on it was Port for some reason.

Just prior to my arrival in the world, an angel appeared before me, with a message from God. The angel spoke unto me: "You have 2 paths thy can chooseth in life- one path is filled with riches, beyond your wildest dreams. You will have a women of golden hair & bountiful boosom. Your cup will runneth over, you will be the subject of envy & enjoy earthly delights. The other path leads towards the most magical kingdom on earth. There will be many subjects in this kingdom, who have been worshipped throughout the land. This kingdom is set on the greenest grass on earth, the tap water runneth with wine & the most magnificent colours adorn this most beautiful creation. These colours, are God's own colours- Red & White. They have also slay a mighty beast, in the 1972 Champions Of Australia series.... what chooseth you?"
After much careful consideration, I made the correct choice- to embrace the second option, & thus, I was born a North Adelaide supporter!

My best friends Mum is a mad Westies supporter and her dad is a mad Roosters man, and whenever they play each other, if westies win he'd gets a nice roast dinner. After the 91 GF she made him make his own dinner and sleep on the lounge for a week...

Funny! I had the same dream.

I said "How about I enjoy the bountiful bosoms for 30 odd years and my team's crap and then when I'm past the bountiful bosom stage my team comes good" The angel spake thus " add blue to your colours, take precautions and the millenium will find you tired but happy"

And it came to pass.
We used to be good :-(

It's Okay mate, you don't have to get defensive, as I said each to their own

Never said YOU'RE gay, but if you think that is an apt description.....

Mate it is not an issue

But to humour you Glenelg's original theme song was pinched from the Gordon Rugby club in Sydney, who had the song "Gay Gordon for me", back in the days when the only definition for gay was happy.

Glenelg changed their old theme song years ago, back in the late 70s - 80s officially to "dashing all day" however some versions of the old song were still used past that date by TV stations with the old words "we're dashing we're gay" as per the Gordon Rugby song.

In 1995 the then board of the Glenelg Football Club inshrined the leaping Tiger as our official emblem/logo (we were using the Balmain Tiger on non-playing merchandise) and changed our official theme song to "Tigerland" A theme song his continuously rated the best footy theme song by football follows - quote Time Lane after R1 2002 Collingwood v Richmond at the G

So there you go Brewster the facts behind the Glenelg song.

I personally love the 2nd verse of the old Glenelg theme song:

Now our 1st and our 2nds our 3rds and our colts
Will play to the siren, no matter result,
We'll thrash em, we'll slay em
Our home by the sea
And roar out our chorus with each victory...

But as song in its entirety I prefer Tiger land.....

You just keep forsaking the buxum blonds mate.....

Postby Leaping Lindner » Fri Feb 10, 2006 3:34 pm

My great grandfather moved from Semaphore at the turn of last century to North Adelaide. Subsequently my grandfather (mum's dad) grew up a North supporter and I followed what he did. Also I lived in the area as well. My dad played some Colts at the Bay(growing up down there) but never followed football with any real passion.

I had thought the Glenelg song was based on a certain traditional Scots ditty:

http://ingeb.org/songs/imgeorgi.html

No mention of dashing and gay, but instead the timeless double entendre:
"I'll buy ye a bonnet and we'll do it in style,"

Tigerland might well be rated the best footy tune by the AFL heathens, but most of the Bays fans I know prefer "A Tiger For Me" - with the dubious lyric amended to "dashing and brave".

Agreed there wide but isn't it three things that look great with red, white, blue and yellow. Shooting a few umpire is allowed Richard Williams needs a good bullet to the head.
