I reckon that there should be more than 1 ANZAC Day game throughout the year, that way we could get more people through the gates, i know it would be a case of misrepresentation, but it's for The ANZACS & the SANFL. (what a load of crap)

Rhino, thanks for clearing this news up. Drebin is correct, and I for one always await the Rhino post when Sturt Board matters are being discussed.
Drebin, I tried to make a post a bit earlier but for some reason it didn't go through. Basically it went along the lines of thanks for supplying the news, and I agree that leaving our home grounds is not good news.
May our two clubs forever remain as far apart as our home grounds allow us.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

ANZAC day game is always classified as a home game to the reigning premier, regardless of the venue. And dogs are due to play North only twice next season, IIRC.

Thanks risingblues - I posted my comments only to make people aware and I would hate to see us move from Prospect. Equally I would imagine Sturt fans who have been through this in the past but managed to just survive and get home games back at Unley before it turned into a full on parkland, would be just as angry.

All I can see by any move by any club from it's home ground is to destroy part of a clubs tradition and loss some of it's soul. I'm sure that Sturt and North fans, who despite the banter and football hatred via these forums (all in good jest and part of "rivalry") will be united towards each clubs cause as this unfolds. I'm only too happy to be involved ensuring that the supporters and members fight this as far as they can.

If the teams are scheduled to play 3 times then the Anzac day game is the neutral one at the Adelaide Oval.

However if only scheduled to play twice then it is the premiers home game but has been at the Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide Oval to link up with the Anzac March.

2007 was different in that Adelaide Oval unavailable and teams were to play 3 times but was our turn to have 2 at Elizabeth. Thus this year Anzac day was a home game for us as Premier and played at Thebarton. ( we still travelled twice to Elizabeth)

If North and Centrals to only play twice in 2008 then assuming Adelaide Oval available it will be a Centrals home game and North will not travel to Elizabeth.
If they play 3 times and it is Norths turn to travel twice to Elizabeth then one Elizabeth game goes to Adelaide. If it is the turn for 2 of the 3 to be at Prospect then those games stay at Prospect and the Elizabeth game is at Adelaide.

Is due to the rotation that sees all teams play each other the same number of times over 2 seasons (play each team 5 times over 2 years) and balancing out use of grounds with home games.

Agreed CD but the fact that Adelaide Oval may not be available next year because of rebuilding the members area is why its talked about as being at Elizabeth.
For those making false assumptions I have no issues with playing day games at Elizabeth, rather not have to travel that far but my main issue is North haven't had the chance to play in a big Anzac Day game against the other Grand Finalists in recent time (didn't even happen in the 80s IIRC) and I'd love for the day to be at Adelaide or Thebby as its more special at a neutral ground.
Anzac Day at Elizabeth would be just another minor round game to me.

I understand your points, but reckon you may be pleasantly surprised.

I thought exactly the same thing going in to this seasons ANZAC game and came away with an entirely different opinion. The service, from start to finish, with the national anthem added to the end was all I needed to get into the ANZAC spirit for the game and it transformed from a 'normal' minor round game to something a lot more special.

Your probably also on the money smac but I still think this game should be at a neutral venue. I also hope we play Centrals 3 times in '08 although I think on the rotation and given we played 3 minor round games this year, it will probably only be 2 games between the clubs next year.

IMO for what it's worth:

Prospect Oval is one of the best facilities in the SANFL to watch football. Usually a pretty good deck to play on, excellent bar and food facilities, easy parking and with the terracing in the outer makes for a good SANFL day out (especially if you're winning and standing anywhere near the Groggies!).
There is only one team I love as much as the Double Blues, the Double Blues Reserves.......
