Sounds a bit like the Port Magpies revolving door for the last 3 or 4 seasons.........

How many "one season only" players have the Magpies had this millenium?

I dont know that players returning to Vic from Westies is in itself a bad thing, any side that does not make the five is going to have to make turnovers in its list in order to improve, there is little point in continuing to play players that are struggling to make the standard required. If a side is paying the $$$ to a player and the return is below par, then its fairly obvious what the result is going to be.

Still, suppose players are successfull, then they stand a good chance of going into the AFL, so you are shafted either way!

Yes alot Rushby,I've heard the young aboriginal fella Miller is trying to get a clearance to Subiaco, from the Magpies as i speak & also Brian Leys who i think works with junior development,is packing his bags & heading west aswell.
The Magpies are not getting players their for the right reasons, its all $$$$.For a club thats crying poverty, they seem to come up with alot of coin, especially for their Victorian recruits.
What happened to their "stick with our junior plan"?????

Good point Soj.
Westies proved they had alot of players not up to standard, that is why they finished bottom.
Collins has taken over, gone through his list & realises the same thing.
He hasn't sat on his ass, he's recruited 8 or so players thus far & with more to come, we will see Westies gradually make that climb back into the "MAJOR" round.
Maybe a few of those blokes that have left probably knew, it wasn't going to be as easy to get a game under Collins, like it was under Weideman?
I think its a good thing for the club anyway, some fresh blood in both players & coaching staff, that will get us back to where we should be, playing finals football & hopefully all playing for that guernsey & earning the right to wear that red & black.

The first three on that list are a loss talent wise but not much of a loss commitment wise.

Good to see that the bugger off stick has been used on these players that do not show the commitment required by the new management team down at WAFC. Which sometimes in the past has cost us other better players because they are sick of seeing some of these over paid recruits molly coddled just because of their pre WAFC reputations.

whufc wrote:Ahh fond memories of SAL in the 2003 Grand Final misses to abosolute sidders infront of goal in the first 5 minutes of the game. Atleast 5 Central lads run right in his face and let him know about it. He then coughs the ball up another 3 times embarrasingly inside their defensive 50, two of which result in goals to the dogs.

I don't remember the exact stats but i re-watched the tape for the purpose of watching his disposals on the day he had something like, 18 kicks 5 handballs and if remeber correctly 19 of these possesion resulted in direct turnovers. Ahh it was one of the worst individual grand final performances i have seen in a very very very very long time

Sorry to disappoint you whufc but I've just watched the game back and Hassan had 9 kicks, 8 handballs and 2 marks (as well as 3 hitouts). Pretty hard to rack up 19 turnovers from 17 disposals I would have thought. In fact he turned the ball over once, as opposed to 19 times. You must be using a definition of 'turnover' known only to yourself, but which presumably includes disposals under pressure to 50/50 contests.

He played as a tagger on Bello in the first half. To that time Hassan's stats were 4 kicks, 4 handballs, 1 mark and Bello had 5 kicks 2 handballs 0 marks. A pretty fair effort I would have thought. Anyway, you know the old saying about facts and a good story.

You've yet to see Steven Bailey play for West then.

(Actually this is just a gag, Bails was hung out to dry and made a scapegoat by Norwood's current coach IMHO. He'd be a ripper player in a decent team.)
