Lights at Hamra Homes Oval Elizabeth

Postby Grand Central » Sun Feb 26, 2006 12:41 pm

The lights at HHOE are now operational :)

They will be used for the first time under match conditions for the Centrals/Eagles trial match. Then it's Round 1 against Sturt.

For those interested the lights have three settings: training, half match and full match. Additional halogen lights provide backup in case of a blackout (the main lights take 20 minutes to fire up again). The grandstand lights are no longer required. Lighting is also directed around the oval for security and safety.

I had thought they would be expensive to operate. All four towers have 24 efficient lights. To operate at full capacity would cost somewhere around $50 an hour.

Exciting times ahead for Central fans with the new lighting. Do you know if Elizabeth Oval has any plans for other sports to be played there under lights?
