Brett Cook was the player. Drafted from Norwood to Fitzroy and then off to St Kilda after 1996. I think there is a post in the archives of the Norwood forum on zone boundaries that I'll try to look up. I seem to remember it being in Norwood's country zone.

Stuart Bown is a Broken Hill boy who came down to Adelaide to play underage for Norwood. In the '80s Norwood had Glenn Vardanega as well. As is mentioned, Dean Solomon played some Norwood junior football (u/19s I think) before playing a year for a TAC Cup team - from which he was drafted to Essendon so Norwood missed out on the $$$.

IMHO i think this could be the difference for some clubs in 2008 if you could pick up a gem like Brent Guerra in 2000, the service he gave to Central was unbelievable and the whole time he was at Central he was still on the Power list. There would obviously be other players who have thrived on their SANFL list as well. For my team sake Central i hope we are dedicated to picking up the absolute best when our pick comes around.

Fair call WHUFC ... I think the best selection Norwood have ever made is Kris Massie (although Matty Thomas is already not far behind), who wears the guernsey almost as if he was born and bred on the Parade ... Unforunately for us, we don't see enough of him and this becomes perhaps the pivotal point.

You would have to think, that given their current positions and squads etc, that selecting a youngster from the Power list would result in more game time at SANFL level, given how far down the pecking order that kid would be at Alberton.

The Crows on the other hand (you would think) are more likely to throw this years batch of kids into the mix earlier than the Power (imho).

PS: I know some will say the Power promote or develop their kids quicker than the Crows and I'm not arguing that, but they already have regular team members from the last few batches of kids, whereas the Crows dont.

Have to agree about Massie and Thomas they have been brilliant for Norwood and i personally had forgot that there not even Norwood born and bred. If you can pick up a player for free like these two i think it can take a club from 5th or 6th into the top 3 IMHO. The SANFL mini draft is one of the most crucial days on the SANFL calender.

Only if these players play a full season - which they don't. They're more value in one-off games. It's up to the whole squad to move the club up the ladder.

Yeah very very very true but Lonie's final quarter against the Eagles in the first final they played this year, not only changed both sides final series but there whole season and that's invaluable especially when your not taking up any salary cap room.

OK here's my last attempt before it happens:

1. West- Andy Otten
2. South- Matthew Lobbe
3. Norwood- Taylor Walker
4. Port- Mitchell Farmer
5. Sturt- Jarrhan Jacky
6. Glenelg- Tony Armstrong
7. WWT- Myke Cook
8. North- Brad Moran
9. Central- Edward Curnow
10. West- Aaron Kite
11. South- Daniel Boyle
12. Norwood- Patrick Dangerfield

I just can't see anyone taking Dangerfield (other than Nwd with the last pick of course) because he'll be unavailable next year and he'll be fast tracked by the AFC in 2009.
