Some schools simply require you to play a sport for the school if you play a sport for a club. I know of one lad who plays table tennis for Blackfriars so he can play club footy on the weekends...

Here's a new challenge. Let's take out any player who has played league and any AFL (current or former) listed player and see who can come up with some talented kids coming through. Simply naming all the guys under 21 playing league or on an AFL list, and spitting out well known facts about them does not make anyone a guru of SANFL footy!

You talked me into it
Here are some youngSTARS that could be the next generation of youngSTARS

1. DAVIS...North Adelaide
2. HARTLETT...West Adelaide
3. BROADBENT..Eagles

GL do you agree with any of these ?

Phil Davis is going to be a gun FF at SANFL level and maybe higher when he bulks up. He has great hands and is a good kick at goal.

I agree with you, but parents make the choice with their child as to which school to send them to. This has always been their policy and it covers all sports with cricket, hockey, basketball and any other sport the child may play.

The joys of sending your child to a good school....

Hardly a good school then is it...?

That's why my boy didn't go to a private school as they would have held up his other sports and football.

We all have choices and that was the deciding factor. As sport was my boy's first choice and I thought doing something that you had the chance to rep the state was more important than school sport. No looking back and many fun trips interstate, happy with the choice we made.

I haven't heard of this lad before, is he old enough for this year's draft?

Definately has blossomed after winning a flag in the off season with the mighty Mt Lofty Redcaps!

My old stomping ground! Yes, Nick's a good hills boy, off the cuff Sturt's done pretty well from the Stirling, Bridgewater, Hahndorf area in the last few years

Sorry, but Nick is from BLACKWOOD

PAFC is Kirkwood any relation to Colin Kirkwood from Pooraka who of course are affliated with the PAFC

Kane is Colin's son I think?

(As an aside, today's paper says Kane is out for the rest of the year. Scans have found his shoulder injury from Lower's hit to be worse than first thought.)

its not kane but zane. yes it is colins son. Colin was an outstanding jnr footballer at Pooraka and Port winning the McCullum or Tompkins medal. Was an outstanding player for Pooraka and also played and coached in Clare and Whyalla.

I'm pretty sure he is, might be 17 turning 18 I think...

Pretty sure he is the State Under 18s squad and is a very promising player from what I've seen and heard...

Saw he break open the game against the Dogs on Anzacd Day in the reserves. From memory, had about 4 goals in the 1st half of the game forcing Centrals reserves coach Damien Hicks to drop an extra player loose in the hole. Very talented with a big future ahead of him I reckon.

Glad to hear it. Private boys schools are good if you want ritual humiliation, tuition in archaic languages and expertise in "soggy biscuit", but unless you're from old money they are no good for a potential sports career.

btw - the same is true for girls schools too, although instead of "soggy biscuit" they play hockey. But let's face it, that's just a euphemism for lesbian sex...

Hamish Hartlett will be a superstar

But its no secret every AFL club knows his talent and Westies know he will not be here next year and is expected to go top 10

I don't think he played on the weeked gone against the Doggies Thieley...

I sat the whole day up in the grandstand next to the Centrals statistians and a Westies official game over before the legue game and said you can take number 17 off their team sheets. (Hamish Hartlett was # 17 according to the Budget last week)

GO U DOGGIES...
