Apparently there is a game on at Coopers tonight?

All discussions to do with the SANFL

I wonder if the legs fans will leave at half time again like they did against the bays.

Maybe something for the marketing manager down at the parade $5 entry for those soft supporters who leave the game early.

although the way Norwood is run at the minute. They would probably forget to make their members aware of the promotion.

If Sturt wins by 8 goals plus. Will "The Trev" stand down ???

The gap between Central and Sturt

Not much between Centrals and Sturt this year, a gap to the rest I'll agree.

Disagree about the gap between Central and Sturt, we only had to play a half to beat Sturt on their own dung hill and we're ordinary.

Fair enough, but could also argue that it took Centrals all day to get over Norwood, who'd lost to West the week before.

Granted, Sturt lost 7.6 to 7.9 to North, but on a relatively low scoring day - Anzac Day. After Centrals (21 goals on the Adelaide Oval surface) the highest score that day was the Eagles 11.4 - and that was against South.

Sturt's only other loss was to the Bays in Round 1.

Looking at overall results this year to date (in isolation ;) ), there doesn't appear to be a heck of alot of difference.

Won't debate you on how ordinary North are, though :)

Sad part about it is ordinary as we are if we hadn't had so many injuries we'd probably be 2nd on the ladder and IMHO we're no better than last year when we came 7th.
Goes to show how the standard has dropped, hence my original point.

Okay.

No secret I guess, but North's draw hasn't done them any favours to date either.

Wait and see I guess. :)

On the same sort of line as that, i don't think Central are any better at all than last years side yet are sitting 7-0.

I agree, I think the only side that's improved on last year is West.
The rest have either stayed static or got worse hence why we're seeing probably the poorest standard ever in the SANFL.

I disagree with the standard. I think the standard is just as high as ever. Ask Kris Massie 100 game plus AFL player how easy it is to get a kick these days.

I think Centrals have improved alot on last years squad. Alot more depth this year.We have 3-4 guys every week fighting it out for one spot. Last year we were 5-2 at the same time.

Of The 7 games I have seen live this year. The Centrals vs Port Centrals vs Norwood and Centrals vs North games this year were simply terrific games of football up with any afl game.

I also watched the West vs Norwood game on ABC as a neutral this year and thoroughly enjoyed the game. I remember AFL games were on other channels but simply werent as entertaining.

Plus No Jars this year so everything will be better.

Sounded like a decent sized crowd went along.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Very good crowd but still 2k less than the last time these two sides met under lights at Norwood.

As a Norwood supporter, it's very hard to disagree. Based on the games I've seen this year, Norwood or otherwise, the standard has definitely slipped. Strap yourself in, because the trend will continue. Tonight's game was so poor I really don't care if I see another game this season.

All we saw for most of the first half was tackle, handball, tackle, handall, tackle, handball. Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.

I don't think so. Tonight really took it out of me. I haven't enjoyed my footy at all this season and I need a break from it.

Nah mate, I still go to North games to catch up with mates and have a kick and a catch with the son and also the blind loyalty as mentioned before. I find with footy that most tend to follow a club and not the game which can be different with other sports.
I'll definately go to less games though especially neutral games, used to go to quite a few (one day I even managed 4 neutral games all on the same day).
When its a choice between watching a highly skilled Geelong play probably the best footy I've seen in my life or going to a neutral SANFL game and watch fumbling, backwards kicking not finding its mark and dour defensive events (not to mention even worse umpiring which helps destroy what little spectacle there is) it's a no brainer these days unfortunately. I'd probably even choose a good league, union or V8 race, hell with the way the standard has been a chick flick might even be appealing! ;)
Hopefully its just a temporary phase and things improve as I used to really enjoy going to many neutral games a year and sharing photos of those with others on the internet. :D
I think the onus is on the clubs to make SANFL more appealing as they don't do a lot at the moment. I can go out to a pub and watch great bands with no entry price and drink pints of pale for $6 after eating some great food and a great night out.
Go to the footy and it costs $10 and you get tins of rubbish for $6, usually crap food (OK if you feel like a BBQ and you're at Richmond!) and have to watch rubbish.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong and crowds coud go up this year, it doesn't matter what I think but what the majority think but I must admit this year is the first year I can really recall the standard being discussed at length and with good cause IMHO.
Don't shoot the messenger!
