BUT.....King-hitting someone when they are not looking is pretty gutless, IF that is what did happen.

I totally agree, hitting some one from behind is a gutluss act but according to some one in the Centrals camp that saw the whole incident, it was a King hit but not from behind.

But hitting someone in the nuts deliberately is also a pretty gutless act as well and I am sure Foldesdy didnt see that coming either.

With the amount of dives McConnell makes who the hell would know when he gets hit anyway?
Perhaps he should read the book about the boy and the wolf!

The only reason he hasn't been reported for Sunday's incident is that neither of the umpires witnessed the hit, and it was not picked up on any cameras given that it was so far of the play.

Glenelg had the right to report him, but have chosen not too. Lucky, because the league officials witnessed the incident also and i guess would've had quite a say tonight if it had of made it's way to the tribunal.

So what about McConnells first hit on Foldesdy ... that was ok I suppose ? And if the umpires didnt see it why did they pay a free down the ground ? Play with fire expect to get burnt.

FFS .... No wonder you Blokes cant win Jack s***t .... Whingers and Mentally Piss Weak. It's Friggin football not netball.

And that is really comical .... after all they did have the Stringer boys and Co .... Dont friggin choke on your Halo !!

Maybe the SANFL need to get your South Board onboard to show them how to run a well oiled, unified and organised show ???

I reckon the umpires paid a free because it was clear that McConnel had been hit although thy did not see the direct contact. Understand it's football and i love the niggle and hard hits more than anyone but that behind the play stuff is weak as piss and needs to be outlawed.

I am on board with the Doggies each finals campaign as i have many mates out there and they like wise are quite disgusted with what Foldesdy did on the weekend.

I agree with the need to stop the behind the play incidents but excuse me, wasn't that why we went to three umpires. Unfortunately we now see each umpire taking care of a third of the ground and taking a breather when its not their turn - watching the play rather than what's happening behind the play.

So you are saying that the umpires GUESSED and paid a free kick because they thought that it may have been a hit - Good Umpiring in that case ... For Gods sake ... it could have been another McConnell dive looking for a free kick ... he done plenty of that over his journey (but we all know that it wasnt this time).

Like I said .. hitting from behind isn't on and it is gutluss ... but Mattys king hit was not from behind.

Were the Glenelg supports Disgusted when McConnell hit Foldesdy in the nuts earlier ... I dont think so. As i said in an earlier posted ... if you are prepared to give it out you better be prepared to get one back.

You can "king hit" from the front?

When did that change?

Of course you can, and its never changed! King hits are usually from the front. :?

king-hit

a knockout punch.

In Australia a Sucker punch is known as a King hit and carries the added connotation that the blow is, as a rule, pre-empting a fight, and intended to cause as much damage as possible.[4]

1. The most hardcore, damage-maximising, chronicly solid punch that can be thrown. Send's the aggressor off balance if it doesn't hit the intended targe

Hard and unexpected punch between the eyes.

I think you hit the quote button the wrong person mate, you probably meant to quote those who mentioned the hit to the nuts. (Only assumption I can make that gives your post any sense whatsoever?)

:? yourself.

I would say most people would consider a punch from the front a punch and I had ( and think many would ) considered a "king hit" was from behind. No point arguing with you though.

Well noone I know does, most would consider a king hit from behind a king hit from behind just like they'd consider a king hit from the front a king hit from the front. Ive seen a lot more king hits from the front.
Feel free to do a google search and see what comes up on the first page if you.
Heaps of players have received king hits from in front including several footy video packages where that's exactly how the commentators described it.
You were the one who had a go at Hawks22 when he was on the money not me.
Most king hits are from the front but as they're usually unexpected and preemptive I would agree several come from behind or the side.
Now don't get touchy with me Booney just because you're wrong! ;)
I just asked 10 people at work and the consensus was "Unprovoked and unexpected".
When I asked if it would be exclusively from behind they said no definately not and they all said most would probably be from in front.
:)

Well time permitted that I only asked the 10 closest me currently to back up the only people I'd ever heard it discussed with in the past. Either way it was a 100% record.
Im just saying I don't think you should be having a go at Hawks22 for having the same opinion and definition of a king hit which most (if not all minus one) people do. :?

Must admit my understanding of a king hit was one that the target had no chance to see was coming...happy to be educated though.

Nah, you're spot on mate, an unexpected hit that we don't see coming be it from any direction is definately what a king hit is.
With my reaction time these days it wouldn't make a difference even if I received 7 days notice and received it in the mail!
