Andrew Hayes was absolutely brilliant yesterday. You wouldn't think he had been out injured for a while, cut swathes through the Wiggles forward line.

The game was great with both teams having there moments but could not underdstand why Salter swapped with welsh when the Eagles were making there charge in the last Qtr also can not wait to see how Laird is going to get Schell,Havelberg,M Westoff and Gunston in the forward line when back from injuries/AFL duties,as the they will not automatically go into the backlines with Hardy,Lawry and Hayes playing well.

What a problem for Laird to have.

Also would like to say it was great to watch two good teams having a go and as an extra we had a comedy act in the umpiring fraternity giving us a show, did not favour either team but when will they learn to put the whistle away and just LET THEM PLAY.

Totally agree, out of all the players coming back i think M.Westoff will have to play a fair bit of reserves football and will probably struggle to get back into the league side.

Also Habel loves his goals on the run from 45-50 meters out doesn't he!

Has to keep his spot.......Boyd league next week I'm hearing......so who misses out

Good game by L Westhoff yesterday, also deserves t keep his spot !

Does Nash keep his spot at the Power (anyone know who he replaced ?)

If M Westoff got promoted to the Dogs, he'd have to play 3 League games before he could play reserves regardless of how much current Centrals players deserved their spot. One of our better players at Glenelg this eyar had to play reserves last week because Sellar came back.

To save taking another thread further off track where this issue was raised, hypothetically speaking becase this wouldn't happen on many levels, but, if I was put in a position of recruiting authoirty at the Bay and if I was given a choice of Paul Thomas or James Allan, I wouldn't be picking the North bloke. Thomas is the best/most influential player in the comp IMO.

Would take O'Hara and Callinan before him (Allan) too.

This sounds a bit biased but sometimes Callinan looks too good for this competition.

Are you confusing M Westhoff with J Westhoff........M got injured in round 2 against West Adelaide and has only played SANFL this year ?

Thought the dogs were a mile ahead of the eagles. Hands on the ball first for all bar 10 minutes of the game and just hurt themselves by missing targets and turning the ball over. Always likely to be some miscommunication though with so many changes so happy to live with turnovers for now. Come finals time they should all be ironed out.

Thought Symes and Griffin were fantastic. Symes took a few minutes to find his feet but didn't take long to get into the groove of the game. And Callinan keep his good form. His goalkicking is starting to get back to the level he was at when he first came over. Lawry and Hardy are fast becoming as good a CHB/FB tandem as there is in the comp, while Hayes' return as that third tall didn't look like he'd missed any footy.

The eagles need someone other than Cicollella who can win the ball in the contests. You just won't win games in finals unless you win the ball, the other teams will be too good with the ball by then to turn it over enough to kick a winning score.

Not certain where the ball winners have gone .When we beat Sturt the entire team got the ball.Pretty certain if the players stuck to the game plan and could kick straight would have been a closer result.
jimmy Stewarts injury has hurt the team along with grockes suspension .

Well done Dogs you still have the Eagles measure.

James Boyd made a successful second comeback from his leg injury through the reserves and was very good, winning plenty of the ball. Will be interesting to see if he can get in the league side next week to face his former side?

The Doggies were impressive yesterday, especially as mentioned, they only really had the 1 key forward. Was surprised Godden played Welsh (and Salter late) behind the ball in defence, thought they looked better in attack.

Was very impressed with James Gowans' game, Jon Griffin is too good for SANFL but can't get a game for the Crows, which would be a very handy bonus for Roy Laird.

Heath Lawry is getting better in defence as the season progresses and Ian Callinan may just have a Magarey Medal around his neck (to go with his JJ Liston - VFL equivilant) if he keeps up this great form he is in.

Apart from that shocking kick across goals that gifted Goldsworthy a major, I was also impressed with Andrew Hayes' game, back in the side after a long stint on the sidelines.

Eagles showed some good fight at times but just seemed to lack composure a couple of times under pressure which proved too costly in the end.

Yeah i think Boyd will come into the Dogs line up this week with either Symes getting a Crows call up or Reichart making way for Boyd. South at home would be the perfect game to introduce Boyd into the league side, as motivation/complacency may be the only thing to bring the Dogs down this week and you can be sure Boyd wouldn't be suffering from either.

Though in saying that Lairdy has apparently been very stern with Boyd due to his reputation of getting everything is own way, so wouldn't be surprised if he was made to earn his stripes with a couple more good performances in the ressies.

Another note from Saturdays game was Lairdys attempts to use Hayes in the forward line a couple of times.

Listened to the game on the radio. Started getting excited when the Eagles got within 9 points in the last, but as Central had done all day, they answered the challenge and then some.

Disappointing to not get a win in the past fortnight. Makes the next two weeks absolute must wins to stay in line for a top 3 spot.

Mr Fuller wrote:Firstly let me just say that the final score was pretty much the correct reflection of how much better Central's were than us today. I was actually a bit surpised we managed to get within 2 goals in the last but always thought it was a matter of time before the doggies kicked away.

Griffen destroyed us in the ruck. Was too tall for Parry and won most of the hitouts. Parry did better around the ground and dominated over McKenzie I thought. As for Guilhaus....absolutely terrible and should be demoted for next week. Godden's biggest blunder of hte year was dropping Miles for Guilhaus. I'm sure this will be rectified this year.

I thought Welsh played a pretty good game and gave 100% effort unlike some of his team-mates. Rowntree has surprised me this year played a decent game today I thought.

Cheep and Banner's games were dreadful. I would have thought Banner would come out breathing fire after being dropped last week but on today's performance he'd better get used to the reserves.

Is it time to start reintroducing McKenzie into the midfield? He is having a shocker of a year in the backline so far and playing him in the midfield in small bursts may help him regain confidence and touch. Seems to have lost even more of his speed this year by the looks of it.

I guess the only positive of our loss (and some of the others this year) is that we've never really given up which is a good refleciton of the club. However with the competition tightening right up we'd better start putting things together because there is not much between second and seventh.

I'd say, based on Banner's performance and the feeling around the Eagles, before too long he'd better get used to a new guernsey!
