Can't answer that, but given he was an assistant at Hawthorn last season, I can't imagine why he would want to return to such a situation at Sturt.

I'm pretty certain Rick has stepped aside from any football involvement this year as his packaging business is keeping him very busy in Melbourne.

He was an interested spectator at the Sturt-Port match at Unley a few weeks' back. He would've seen how much work there is to do at Sturt!

Yes, Rick does commute to Adelaide a fair bit as he has a business here (managed by former Central player Adam Switala) but as far as I am aware, he is based in Melbourne.

I don't think Rick has any interest in getting back into coaching, he has a young family and his business ingterests are keeping him occupied a fair bit.

He left Sturt to join the AFL system, then left the AFL system to concentrate on his business. Unless both the business and AFL gig are drying up I really can't see him returning to the SANFL.

HP, if he'd seen what there was to work with at Sturt and it had any influence, he'd run away as fast as possible!

It'll be interesting to see if the board, coach and members just gloss over this woeful season...

... unfortunately I think everyone will just shrug shoulders and look the other way and no one will ask the hard questions.

I think differently, I think the hard questions will be asked, I think they already have and I think the board will do the best that they can, knowing the circumstances that entail. I think the SFC board has actually acted very measured and responsibly in our current situation.

I've obviously missed something BIG here... I haven't noticed them do anything? Which is something... if that's what you're alluding to?

I'm not playing funny buggers here... I'm actually interested in what you know? As I haven't heard anything from the club apart from it's newsletters, which have merely commented on Luke Norman being in charge until 2012 for the moment.

:D I don't know anything CS. not sure why you'd think I would. As I've said, I think the board has been dealing with the situation and measured in it's approach. Apparently this is my "do nothing" angle on things.
You seem to want an immediate result or reaction on behalf of the board concerning Luke Norman, where as I'd prefer a measured response at the end of the season. I've only an opinion, no news, no answers.

I can only be honest CS. Seriously, if that's your attitude with me then why bother asking the question in the first place.

I don't think the club will gloss over it to be honest , Matt B said a review will take place at the end of the year .

That's crap Graham, we are only a few recruits and developed juniors away from being competitive and back in the five. Or twos and jrs are solid and showing great signs. Better than centrals lower grades.

Yes your depth is being tested at the moment but to say that about our future is an exaggeration. I think you would agree and re think your statement?

Reserves and U/18 results show nothing about your clubs future, just take a look at Centrals who have been terrible in the Under 18's and the Reserves haven't been that great over the years as well especially in the minor round.

No good having a gun Under 18 side if its being starred by 3-5 blokes who will be picked up in the AFL draft over the next couple of years.

Thats true too but there are players there that we will see in our league side as they wont be good enough for afl sides. these are the players sturt will need to develop.

Your rebuttal, however passionate, is far from convincing. I think it's been several years since Centrals had strong juniors, but have a look through the team and see how many good players have been developed.

Sturt need key forwards, ruckmen, midfielders of both the hard variety and the skilled variety and backmen. Seriously, there is little in the cupboard at Sturt. The fact you seem to think there's a premiership squad just a "couple of recruits" away means you're either delusional or you think Sturt are going to name Swan, Ablett and Franklin as recruits shortly!

Love how you can't even quote me right, where did I say 'premierhip'?

I said competitive which is quite reasonable. Sorry, but you are wrong to think there is nothing in the cupboard. Only time will tell, but I'll back my opinion over yours.

I'm sorry, I thought Sturt had gotten over the "just so long as we don't finish last again" mentality and were looking to build towards flags. No doubt Ricky would be wanting to pick up a side that had something going for it.

I'm looking through the Sturt team list and really struggling to find many proven league players under 22 in the Sturt list.

But good for you to back your opinion.

Clutching at straws there mate. I'm an optimist, I can't see us going bottom to top, so a few year to crawl off it should suffice.
