Gotta agree with this.
Big fan of Mickan. His sacking by Glenelg is a little reminiscent of Hodgeman's. I think I recall him getting sacked for losing a grand final? Bays spent years in the wilderness after that only to be shown stability again by Mickan, who got a similar punishment.

With Hodgeman already at the Bay maybe he'll get another shot at the senior role. I can't imagine Massiah will be reappointed and with their appalling history regarding the treatment of coaches, I can't imagine too many blokes having the motivation to apply. Didn't they only get a few applicants last time and shot ones at that?

Only saw parts of this game on tv, but the first quarter wasn't dissimilar to the game against Glenelg at the Bay last year, besides the Eagles kicking 9.0 instead of 1.8!

Two games at Woodville in a row where we have wiped the opposition. Need to beat Central at Elizabeth and those players that play well when we are in front need to be the ones to stand up when the chips are down to be considered top 3 material.

Re comments on here re Mickan - I would have thought if he wanted to be a senior coach at SANFL level again there would be a few clubs who could do well to get him. He has proven he can take teams from the bottom to close to the top (Eagles and Glenelg).

Fortress Woodville has been rebuilt since the west games .
Big test next week out north !!
Bays as reported on the TV and in the Mail looked out of condition !!!
Last time we played like that against the bays the coach was sacked !! Wont happen again will it ?

Big ins for the Eagles Norman and Bruce!!

Last time we annihilated the Bays, Massie was at the helm. Mickan was sacked after losing to Centrals I think. Or was it Norwood?

Kris Massie's first game as senior coach of Glenelg was less than 2 years ago. From that match against North, only Allen, Mules, Kirkby, Hitchcock, McGinty and Earl remain. Some names that are no longer at the club from that match are : Kane, Cranston, Grima x 2, McMahon, Panozzo, Murphy, Rudolph, Kirk, Meyer, Ruwoldt, Adlington. Player turnover has been a significant factor in where the club is at right now. The coach is forming his own list and there are plenty of young inexperienced players at the moment.

From yesterday's team, only Allen, Mules and Kirkby have played more than 100 games. The average number of games for the rest of the team yesterday is 23. The average age of those players is just under 22. When you have a young inexperienced list the main issue is always going to be consistency.

From here we can only continue getting games into our players and be patient as the continuity and consistent effort will come.

This is not an excuse for our recent performances, just some reasons and facts. The opposition we have come up against have been far too good and i'm sure that is the level that our playing group aspire to.

That's all fair enough PP but what I witnessed yesterday had nothing to do with a young team.

No structures, no gameplan, overweight blokes, confused blokes and coach with no idea were all very clear yesterday.

Before the game thought the Eags would battle to 2-3 goal win. Glenelg's 'hands-off' footy in the centre square in the first quarter was staggering as our on ballers (clearly beaten by North's last week) were allowed to do what they wanted, Powell in particular was just too hard at it for the Bays. Like the look of Muirhead and Goldsworthy has lifted a level this year. It seems when the Eagles are allowed a little time and space(South and Glenelg) they are capable of kicking big scores but when they are harassed and shut down (West and North), they struggle.
Looking forward to Centrals game this week, should be a beauty.

When your team copped a hiding from West at your "fortress" did anyone question your coach? your structures? your gameplan? were you accused of being overweight or confused? Sometimes in a game of football, teams get heavily beaten. Why is it whenever the Eagles win a game, you and a few others on here do nothing but bag the opposition? Is it because the Eagles only win when the opposition play poorly, thus making your team look good? Maybe you could try looking at the positives from your own side for once. For instance ; kicking your first 10 goals without a miss, which largely contributed to the victory.

When they loose they don't post. If they do, it's usually about an opposition thug (which blew up in their face last week). Bunch of frontrunners.
