The NFC has been consistent in its public stance of opposing any change until a compelling set of circumstances were presented that together improved the position of the SANFL Clubs and ensured that the risks associated with Adelaide and Port Adelaide withdrawing from their relationship with the SANFL and playing in another competition were mitigated.

Adelaide Football Club to enter the SANFL competition in 2014

The SANFL League Directors last
night formally resolved to allow a team from the Adelaide Football Club
(AFC) to enter the SANFL competition.

In a majority 6-2 decision, the League
Directors voted to allow the Adelaide Crows to be the tenth team
in the SANFL competition from 2014 under a 15-year commitment.

The South Adelaide Football club accepts the decision made by the League Directors and will now
support both the SANFL and the other clubs in our competition in ensuring that the entry of the
Adelaide Football club into our competition is as successful as possible.

The South Adelaide Football Club’s position on this matter was formed by its Board and communicated
to it s League Director following a Member’s Information Session on Tuesday 6th August. The position of the South Adelaide Football Club was against the recommendation it had received from the SA Football Commission for the entry of the Adelaide Football Club into the SANFL competition.

This was a complex decision to make in forming our position and the South Adelaide Football Club Board
applied the appropriate due diligence and formed it’s position after considering the guiding principles of
Integrity, Relevance, Financial Viability and Game Development as has been previously communicated.
As a football club we weighted the guiding principle of Integrity highly in this decision making process.
Our League Director voted in accordance with the SANFL Constitution and formed his opinion on this matter in the interests of the encouragement and promotion of football in accordance with the objects
and rules of the SANFL.

When forming the South Adelaide Football Club’s position we acknowledged the benefits that will flow
to the competition and our football club from having the Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL
competition and we will now work very hard to maximise those benefits collaboratively with the SANFL
and the Adelaide Football Club.

The key points of the agreement
include:
-
The AFC will pay an annual licence fee of $400,000 ($50,000 per SANFL club) to be indexed;
-
The AFC support team will be branded the Adelaide Football Club, will wear an alternate Crows
guernsey and will play all its games ‘away’;
-
The AFC to have
the ability to attract sponsors for its SANFL team (no competing partners of the
SANFL competition);
-
SANFL clubs can opt in/out of providing top up players to the AFC; and
-
The SANFL will conduct a 25
-
week season with 18 minor round matches, each club playing each
other twice.

Fuc.n unbelievable that they would admit being bought like this !! i.e. in other words screw the integrity of the comp as long as our own club benefits.

"The NFC has deliberated extensively with the SANFL Commission and the two AFL Clubs in an endeavour to convince them of the merit of the current system.
This has been to no avail.

The Adelaide Football Club are adamant that all their listed players will play under one banner from season 2014 and the Port Adelaide Football Club has maintained its view that it wants to retain all of its SANFL conditions and also have its AFL listed players playing under one banner as soon as possible.
The Norwood Football Club Board rejected the Port Adelaide position and after much deliberation supported the proposal that is to be put to the Adelaide Crows re a Support team in the SANFL League Competition from season 2014.

In doing so the NFC Board was able to gain concessions that will significantly assist the Club in maintaining its position in the Competition."

I hope the Norwood faithful vent their spleen. I'm so glad to hear my mob (Centrals)n held true.

No, the Crows reserves team will be the ones getting flogged

You think so? So take all the Crows listed players out of the SANFL and put them in 1 team. All full time professionals, with a considerably enhanced training programme, and you think they aren't going to walk the league next year. Bearing in mind if they are short of a few, they can make it up by taking a few more for their competitors.

Any truth that the SANFL did a deal with Norwood where if we voted YES we would have our recruiting ban for next season lifted and our fine waived?
Am led to believe our recruiting ban is now lifted.
Shameful if thats all it took to buy us out

If its true that Norwood voted yes, so as to have their ban eased or lifted and maybe a fine reduced, then it will be one of the most disgraceful occurrences since the Bruce webber era. Surely it's not true?

I can't see that they would have voted yes purely for that reason, but one can never underestimate a Norwood board.

If that is the case.

Wouldn't Norwood be I'm breach of rule 13.5 that rucci quoted "must vote in the best interests of sa football".

As they appear to be voting yes clearly to improve themselves. I'm not a lawyer and happy to be corrected but wouldn't that be grounds for an injunction on the matter ??? Ala bays/port 1990

Firstly how many other "negotiated concessions" were offered to clubs to vote yes. ?? Just because other yes voters didn't brag about such concessions in members emails or at info nights doesn't mean they don't exist

Can we expect more "negotiated concession" discussion at yearly reviews to keep afl clubs in SANFL.

More disturbing for me tripodis states "Adelaide" came to the party with "concessions". But not even AFC or the great Steven Trigg could offer an overturn on a SANFL suspension, which 100% proves SANFL are involved in these back door dealings.

So who gave Chris Davies the order to over rule the suspension
A) Olsen
B) whicker
C) all of the above

Chris Davies
A) had no dramas agreeing to the request
B) is just considered as a rubber stamp

I'm going with C & A.

So any lawyers on the site ???

Good for sa football ????

Very weird statement from tripodi opening a can of worms.

How did they not expect us to find out about recruiting ban being listed and not putting 2 & 2 together .

Desperation ???

I've emailed the NFC and the Crows saying I won't renew with NFC next year, and that I've dropped my consideration of signing up for membership with the Crows in 2014, now that I have resettled in SA, even though I was a supporter of both clubs for a long time, a Norwood member for years before my career took me away, and a friend of associated medicos Keith Le Page and Brian Sando for years.

I don't think it will mean much to them as the media money is what matters.
I just wanted to make the point that there are objectors who won't just cave in and go along with it, despite past positive relations with the clubs and friendship with their medical people.
