Crowds:

South v Port 1683
Sturt v Glenelg 2717
North v Adelaide 2465
Norwood v Central 2655
West v Eagles 1985

And beautiful weather for all games too.
Wow, the SANFLs inspired fixturing and the AFL teams are forcing grounds to explode at the seams.

Wonder if the trend will continue

Could it be 'the AFL sides' novelty has worn off and all those loyal fans who took a stance aren't returning

I am not saying that's what they have said, but, having seen almost every game at the BOT, our crowd was quite probably 2683.

Should have helped as the North game got moved to accomodate it.
Stupid club pissed off more loyal supporters (and money) and it made no difference to the handful of Cows supporters.

Seems the SANFL business model

Piss the loyal fans off to please a handful of advertiser readers

Cheers

That NA v AFC figure is about 2K, or 48% lower than the corresponding R1 clash last year. Yes, the Crows were on TV later in the day, but still...

Port fans don't travel to Noarlunga in the numbers they used to. Last 2 or 3 years the crowds for that fixture have been ordinary, although I thought Friday night felt like a few more than 1683.

No not when it's on basically directly after and that goes for all the Saturday games not just North.

25 minutes, but yeah apologies I see your point if all crows supporters live north of Elizabeth or south of Noarlunga.

Was hoping for 4k at Eliz. Dogs supporters have dropped off in droves over the last few years. Night games failed after the initial novelty wore off - not sure what else they can do as facilities as good as anywhere else if not the best. Winning 10 on the trot might do it but even then I wonder if the credibility of the comp has been dealt a mortal blow in its ability to attract the casual/fringe supporter.

Looks like the turnout at Elizabeth the second highest for the round, but I can only wonder how much less it would have been had it we not been playing Norwood. Norwood fans ( particularly after the result) in good voice yesterday - more needed across the league IMO.

Good weather, footy starved supporters and still only a little more than 10k for a complete round. Yikes.

Sans novelty factor.

The SANFL missed the boat with crowds in round 1 by not scheduling 5 matches. There was no amateur or country footy on.

Shocking fixturing, letting the AFL teams in, shorter season, less rounds, ignorant clubs making stupid requests, the list goes on and on as to why crowds are as bad as they were. So many clueless people involved in the process.
