I thank you all! :D

Exactly, it even scares me how much people respect us, as I said even moreso than our own supporters.
No wonder so many other clubs are in the doldrums when they're worried about others as opposed to themselves.
Have a look at what North supporters and their club did when they were in the doldrums.
A blueprint for other clubs and supporters which none have had the passion to follow yet.

Wedgie you are just jealous of south because they are breaking the cap by more than north.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

South break the Salary Cap again

Postby sturtpeter » Fri Dec 15, 2006 11:53 pm

Good luck to the teams who cheat the Cap because thus far only the Bulldogs have won Premierships as a result of this.

42 years is a huge gap in a Premiership losing streak. Maybe some cheats don't prosper.

The difference with talking about the salary cap now is that, partly because of forums like this, many people know approximately what players are paid.

Also, if a player is being chased by several clubs, it often finishes up that the losing clubs are 'blown out of the water' by Club A's offer. The losing clubs know how much they've offered, so they have a fair idea of what the winning club is paying the player.

As far as the salary cap is concerned, it comes down to how the player's package is constructed, with work and other ways of 'hiding' the payment.

We all know that one Club is paying mega-dollars to just a few players. One new recruit to that club this year is reportedly on a huge payment.

So let's not get too coy about the salary cap. Closer to the season, let's run an exercise rating different 'types' of players worth and apply it to each team and see the results. It won't prove anything about the salary cap, but it might be interesting.

If its their second breach in two years then the 13k fine is way too light - admitting the breach or not.

There are a couple of reasons why you won't hear too much more about specifics on this case. Let's just say confidentiality agreements are coming into it. However, the club is on serious notice that anything else coming out may have MAJOR ramifications for them, and we are talking some of the most serious penalties handed out in SANFL history.

FFS!

It's not a 13K fine for breaching the 2006 cap! It's a 13k LATE PAYMENT to a player for the 2005 Season. The SNAFL audits for 2006 probably even haven't started.

It's more a case of "Barleys on that 13k. You got us for that already so you can't count it for 2006 (please)"

At the AGM Ben Kavanagh was quite strong in his reply to a members question that we have not breached the cap for 2006.

It always amazes me that people put faith in what the CEO says at a public meeting about the salary cap. Do you really expect him to say anything other than that they're within the rules?

South were pinged for a deliberate breach of the 2005 cap. Now they've been fined for another breach and who knows if there's not more to come.

At the very least, they look either deceptive or not competent.
