If we pick up Ben Schwarze does this mean we have a good chance of recruiting his brother Troy as well? I hope that the Eagles recruit some more players before the start of the season!! From last years team what were the two Bolton's like i never got to see them play? Does anyone think that Iszac Thompson will get a game this year?

Good luck to Troy Schwarze for signing up as coach of Sorrento during the week in the Mornington Peninsula Football League in the Nepean comp. Apparently GT is going to help him out a bit...

Ben Schwarze
Height 189cm
Weight: 86kg
Date of Birth: 24 August 1983

The brother of St Kilda’s Troy Schwarze, he was on St Kilda’s rookie list in 2003, but spent the 2004 season with VFL club Port Melbourne before being promoted from the Roos’ rookie list in 2005. A tall, rangy type best suited to defence, he played in the pre-season competition in 2005, but did not win selection for any premiership match. Broke into AFL team in 2006.

11 games in 2006 with Kangaroos and dropped off their list and not picked up in draft.

Jackson was the highly rated one and he was injured pretty much the whole time. Matthew was a real goer and did well in reserves, but didn't really look a league level player. What has happened to Thompson? Never even saw him in the reserves last year.

Schwarze sounds as if he'd be a good pick up and will add some much needed height to our defence. Will be interesting to see how Batsanis goes, with Daicos bloodlines hopefully we might see some magic and hopefully Rimmington can add some pressure for spots in the midfield.

I'd hope the following reserves players press for league selection at the beginning of the year - Salter, Vandeleur, Angus, Geddes, Fitzgerald, Petrenko, Pedersen and Hicks as well as experienced players such as Earl and Wigley, Vince and Robbie Fiacchi coming back from injuries in 2006 we should have the depth.

I thought that Thompson would of been getting games due to him being on the Western Bulldogs rookie list in 2005!! Maybe he will get a few games this season. Anyway Ben is a good pickup will give much need help to Pedler!! What does everyone think the backline will look like this year? Mark McKenzie and Luke Powell will hopefully be playing alongside in the midfield with Justin Ciccolella, and Colville can play in the forward line. Make your best Eagles team, only include players that will play a great majority of the season (possibly Vince and Knights) Go the Eags!!

I think the best back six will be something like Pedler, Hier, Colville, Schwarze, McKenzie and Powell. I was surprised to see mentioned earlier in the thread that Frewen is still training so if he can make himself available and has the passion to still play league level I see no reason why he can't make a positive impact, even if only for a small part of the season.

There were a few structural moves made last year including McKenzie to CHB, Inkster on ball, Passador to a permanent Full Forward, Grocke to CHF and Westbrook as the floating third tall which really made a difference to the season. I wouldn't expect too much to change for next season.

Are we still recruiting players at the moment? Has anyone heard any rumours? Will Rimmington, Batsanis play many games for the league team? Are the Boltons sticking around for 2007 season? I used to play against Heir and Salter but am a few years younger then both of them!!
