Hmmm...agreed, Dogwatcher.

Will watch tomorrow night with interest, let's see if the proof is in the pudding. Sometimes things may be achieved, which may please some people, but ultimately, whether some people are still able to look in the mirror and be happy with what they see back, is another story. The ends sometimes doesn't justify the means. One wonders whether some people involved in this should be feeling really happy with themselves and the way they have achieved certain positions.

Mate, this is a thread about the a poster, respected by most here, who feels he's been shafted by Channel 31.
And you're on here spruiking about your pic. Good pic that it is.
I guess I was a little blunt, and I apologise for that.

No worries mate, perhaps I should have started a new topic but as there was already a topic on the show it'd be duplicating. I will start a new topic tonight when I review the show

Sounds like community television is no different than network television.

In other words, this behaviour is par for the course.

And the parties involved won't give a flying fudge...

Well...I've watched 20 minutes of it and have to be truthful - it looks absymal so far. WTF with the set?? Looks like the old set they used to use...Hook looks shaky and totally ill at ease.

I've seen enough...

It was OK, but obviously a few hitches being the first show, Ben got better as the show went on.
Nothing revolutionary from last year though. Nice shirts.
I think I preferred the 3 panelists like last year as opposed to just the 2 to break it up a bit better.
For those who didn't watch it was Ben Hook and Rick MacGowan for the whole show.
Rick Macgowan made an interesting comment about North which a few share an opinion on in that he can see their style of play winning 1 or 2 finals but not 3, he says every side is a chance against them and he's going to instruct Sturt to play man on man footy and not to try to outgun them as they don't have the skill to.
Said he'd rather lose 14 goals to 10 goals as opposed to 28 goals to 21 goals.

Ben's a busy boy, a new Sports show has just started and he's hosting that too.

Oh, and it looks like C31 reception has improved on last year! :D

Yes, a few hitches for sure...mismatching teams to footage as Wedgie mentioned, set as mentioned, people looking at wrong cameras...wonder what Channel 7's SANFL coverage is like this year? :)

No doubt they will improve as they go on, I think that they would do well to have some of the old faces back on though, it didnt seem to have the same style as in previous years.

I wont however be rushing out for a carton of West End though! - Give me a Coopers any day! 8)

I wonder if Coopers would be interested in sponsoring a rival show, hosted by CK?

I know which one I'd watch

An open note to SAFooty.net and SANFL followers:

I've watched the happenings on the site regarding "Total SANFL" for 2007 with limited comment so far. Most of you are aware of the background surrounding the situation; if not, this can be found on other forums here.

A number of theories have been put forward on the situation and it may be time to assess and comment on some of them.

I was told a number of things by a senior person at C31, many of were reiterated a number of times during my telephone conversation with them, relating to this year's show, sponsorship arrangements, who is/isn't to be involved and things that had been allegedly said by some named people. At the time, I had little reason to doubt much of this.

Having spoken directly with Ben Hook, it seems that people involved in this situation may be being told quite differing things by people; many of which are 180 degrees different to each person. The actual, honest, 100% truth of EXACTLY what happened and EXACTLY what was said by other parties, may never come out properly. At this point, I am assessing some options in a legal sense about a couple of things that have arisen. At no stage should this be taken as retractions, or anything similar from myself - what was told to me, repeatedly, on the situation may stand scrutiny in a different forum. As I have received no response from the channel to several emails relating to aspects of this situation, they have not taken repeated opportunities to address this directly with me. Ben and I have had a very fruitful discussion and are on the same page about a number of things.

The last 4 weeks have been an extremely difficult time for me personally. I had not wished to go over this on site, but for the understanding of a number of people; within this period, I have lost a close friend in tragic circumstances; my father passed away after a long illness and some days after this, the show news "arrived". I have had some very dark times over the past few weeks, and have been very grateful and touched by the emails, phone calls, SMS's and cards from a number of colleagues and friends who have taken the time to offer their support in this time. Without singling out too many, people such as Phil Herden, John Nanikvell, Dissident, Squawk, CA, ConstancePerm, Borat, TigerBoss, MagicKiwi OR DoubleBlues among many, many others have been fantastic with their support in this time. In times like this, you certainly learn who your friends are. There has also been some great support from others involved in the media and this have been greatly appreciated.

This situation has taught me a great deal about trust, belief and machinations in general. I do not know what will happen with "Total SANFL" from tnis point - that is in the hands of the channel and will be an indiciation of the commitment required for such a production, from both off air and other staff involved. It would be easy to say I do not care what happens, but I care very much about something I poured 4 years into, and I care very deeply - as all of us do - about our league and playing a very small role in the publicity of the competition I have followed since a very small child.

I'd like to think this situation will die a natural death from this point, and we can all look forward to the 2007 season enormously.

CK - I will be at the Parade tomorrow night. Probably starting on the hill, but then moving end to end with the Port goals. Looking forward to catching up.

btw - someone suggested that Ben Hook is "a great sportsman in his own right". Well, let me just say that in high school footy I once had Hooky caught holding the ball. Those who know me will now no doubt be doubting his greatness as much as I am.
