I have that issue with most if not all SANFL grounds, Alberton's no different no longer letting people in near the scoreboard (nor is Prospect with the gate near the croquet club, Glenelg's worse still).

haha, how good was it walking past the cricket pitches at the Glenelg v Port game a few months back where the walkway between the pitches and the wall was flooded, but you had to walk through it because the other gate was locked.

Surely it cant be saving the SANFL or the clubs that much money that they can justify providing shoddy service.

Just FYI, that's not Norwood's canteen, they merely sublet it to an operator. If the gripes about catering are as a result of this canteen then I'd suggest you all get off the club's back and contact the owner of the facility that so outraged you all.

Two other points. The gate next to the RSL is still open and BruceTiki, nobody really cares what you think of Norwood Oval.

One other gripe Ive got with the parade resulting from last night when the game was finished and everyone from the grandstand and the hill all pile under it and the dumbar55e's have only one gate open to let us out.

Clearly the Catering staff were overwhelmed with the crowd that turned up it would be the hardest thing to do with that business how many bloody people are going to rock up

Why single me out, I'm not the only one that's raised issues about the ground? Why don't you have a go at everyone else that's passed comment. You obviously have no idea what a forum like this is designed for. I'm entitled to express my opinion just like anyone else. I don't agree with everything people say on here, but that doesn't give me a right to start making personal attacks for absolutely no reason at all.

Yes but because it is sub-contracted the club has every right to tell them we're not happy with their performance and to expect something to be done about it. The average punter would have no idea that outlet is sub-contracted out and hence poor performance there reflects directly on the club. I didn't see a sign up saying "independently operated by Clarries Cool Catering - please phone 82xx xxxx with all compliments and any complaints".

In the same way Topsy - if you were to hire temporary staff from a recruiting agency and they didn't perform, your customers would be complaining to you and not to their actual employer who is in fact the recruitment firm. When you get the complaints therefore you pass them on to the staffer AND you go back to the service provider and tell them to give you someone else who can do the job properly.

This was the clubs opportunity to finally get it right in terms of catering after a disappointing experience in the season's opening game and IMHO they failed, and I'll certainly be telling them all about it.

The beer line on Coopers Hill whilst long, did actually move at a fairly reasonable pace, and I don't have concerns about the lighting in terms of viewing (granted they could could be greatly improved) ... The food issue was another matter though - woeful waiting times and poor quality, certainly from the canteen we ventured to, won't be making that mistake again!!

PS: Congrats on your win mate, you guys will be playing deep into the season.

Thanks CP for giving an intelligent, rounded response to Zippy's points of criticism. Some of his gripes do have some basis, ie, the time it takes to line up for a feed and a brew and you answered them all with a balanced viewpoint.

BPBRB, you could take a leaf out of CP's book instead of your continual barrage of dribble towards anything and everything Double blue. Seriously mate, just because someone has a few points to make, whether you agree with them or not, does not give you licence to attack the SFC with the same, repetitive old "Playground" and "Bandwagon" lines that have become oh so BORING!!

8 wins - 3 Losses and playing some seriously good footy.

End of rant.

MST - fancy you telling someone their posts are boring and anti one club. Been living in a glass house long? This thead is about catering not how Sturt are goingn which if you read some of the other topics I have been fully praise worthy of Sturt this week including the topic in which you took me to task over whether Sturt are playing above themselves. Had a chance to read it or did you spend hours tyring to format your "anti-me" post?

P.S. Your ground is a half sized oval and playground in case you have bad eye sight. I am not the only one who who uses this term on this forum BTW.

zipzap wrote:Honestly, how overrated is the Parade as a night time venue? Takes upwards of half an hour to get a drink. At times it can take 1/2 that to line up for a piss in toilets that would make a Guantanemo Bay prisoner blush. 20 minutes at the BBQ line. 10 minutes to get out at the end from a tiny little exit point. If you ever actually get to watch any footy you can't actually see anything from the hill beyond half way because the lights are very ordinary at best. Twice I've been there this year with a large crowd and both times it has buckled under the pressure. And don't come back with criticisms of Unley Oval - I'd take that with its limitations any day.

After visiting both Norwood and Elizabeth this weekend for the night fixtures I thing Norwood is easily the better venue from the 2. It wins on all facets - better lighting, toilets, catering and has seats all the way around the ground.

This venue is outdated scrap it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing that really worries me is the closeness of the stand's brick wall to the boundary line. Someone is going to be seriously injured there one day.

Centrals now have proper lighting on its scoreboard for night games. I admit last years effort at lighting the scoreboard were ordinary at best but it's much, much better this year.

If their oval lighting was sufficient they wouldn't require extra scoreboard lighting.
As I'll never go there ever again since I witnessed the torch on scoreboard effort the amateur dark effort in a dinghy neighbourhood will be the only way I'll remember the place.

PS 7000 people from the Northern suburbs will always rock up whilst its dark, add some decent lights to the place and they'll scatter like cockroaches!

Why would you want to look at the scoreboard anyway?

Had one beer during 'legends game' from Tinny Bar in northern forward pocket. Returned at qtr time to be told we have run out .... FFS... arent you sponsored by a brewery? A few cartons were then retrieved, but by half-time, the bar had closed!!! Had then to drift down to Cooper's Corner where spent 20 minutes in a line to get served. Mite not be club's fault, but apparently is becoming all the norm at Norwood home games. There were predictions of 6-7000 grand so why didn't catering organisers [-X allow for them. Pitiful effort Redlegs, matched that on field.

Correct, I thought it was obvious since we are the only club to have beaten Central's under darkness at Elizabeth. (saying under lights doesn't seem right)
