Lets not post how bad NW was.
Lets just marvel at the exhibition displayed by the ' 2008 ' premiers.

So you think we'll win it next year as well, Mal?

Havelberg played on of those games today. Kicked the lights out of the stadium (except for popping one very easy shot out on the full!) Gave off his fair share as well.

Unfortunately for the kid, he's an "in betweener". Not quite KP size, and not quite quick enough IMHO. However, performances like these grab attention. If the kid carries on having a good year a club may take a punt with a late pick, otherwise the AFC or PAFC will pop him on the rookie list. Would love to be wrong though. I love nothing more than seeing dogs players go on in the big league, except of course the dogs killing the opposition in the SANFL.

That's because I don't think the SANFL interfered with the Norwood area, and that Norwood have been around for 129 years.

Oh well, at least the other eight clubs can slug it out to see who will lose to Central in this years Grand Final!

They call Subiaco the House of Pain for visiting sides, might be a more appropriate term for Hamra!

Anyway, it's pretty easy to win by 150 points when there's no opposition. The number of tackles broken by the dogs players was laughable, and today they were as clean as you could expect an AFL side. Symes was magnificent (what was williams thinking?), Slade and J. Gowans had rippers of first halves while Thommo, C. Gowans, Slattery, Callinan, Dutchske and Lawry played solid 4 quarter games. Umpires will have a tough time giving the MM votes today! Defenders had little to do other than try to go for a run up forward to keep warm, but when needed they ran with purpose, precision and with confidence.

Not much else to say really, other than going to have to get a copy of the game. Norwood were exposed as pretenders today. Not one player stood up for them. None of them put any real pressure on, and every one of their players were beaten in contests because they were SOFT. They should refund the money all Norwood fans paid to see that crap they served up, and none of their players should be paid today. I can understand just not being good enough, and I can understand losing confidence and getting frustrated as being beaten comprehensively, but this was more. I'd say they put in a poor effort, but 21 players in red and blue who didn't have white in between the two put in performances that were not the effort required at this level. Or reserves level for that matter. Simply pathetic, and not what any club whould have to put up with, let alone a club that speaks of pride and passion. Norwood lost a lot or respect today and suddenly Port, WWT, South, Glenelg and West are going to look at them and have oodles of confidence playing them.

Dogs reserves won by a long way, but look at the team and it's no wonder. By my count 11 players with league experience, plus some guys pressing for senior selection. Quinton Graham to come in shortly hopefully, and Obst a month away.

As for Havelberg, 14.1 says it all. Congratulations to the kid.

Hey, Mal. Even if Havelberg goes, these blokes may well be the core of the 2012 CDFC team:

Paul Thomas
Heath Lawry
Ian Callinan
Chad O'Sullivan
Nathan Grima
Charles Slattery
Trent Goodrem
Scott Dutchske
Adrian Wilson
Andrew Hayes
Elijah Ware

With kids like Pfitner, Obst, Stengle, Hadden, Musolino, Mullins, and a couple of Westhoffs coming through.

If we keep most of these guys I see no reason why the dogs won't be doing this for another 5 or 6 years to come.

And truly saddened to hear Currie retiring. True club man who fought his way through the reserves for years to make the league team. Could have gone the soft option and left for another inferior club, but has the flags those guys don't to his name. Took his chance and became a valuable member of the team and more so the club. Guys like Currie are the reason the CDFC is the great club it is, and this news is surely what spurred the dogs on all day. Dream way to go out other than a flag, but we'll send him something when we claim the title in October.

Norwood might have sacked Rocky, but another club was so bad he walked out on it...

LMAO Dickwad. You sledge the Redlegs but it wasn't your club that belted us yesterday was it. And you talk about a poor five years when your pathetic mob made front page news just because it beat West Torrens. Norwood's effort against Centrals is far superior to the absolute carp you have posted on this site.

Out of interest - we recorded 400+ plus possessions for Central yesterday in the ABC box, the first team to pass this mark for 2007. 60 forward 50 entries, with 36 centre breaks to 10 for Norwood.

don't forget, passion for a team or understanding of history is not a function of where you live.... there must be hundreds of people on this site no longer living in adelaide

and sometimes an internet radio coverage can paint a picture of the game, albeit a blurry one ;-)

(i still love you 5rph!)

anyway, let the slanging match continue!

Is that the biggest loss in redlegs history ?????

Yes. 127 points against Sturt in 1969 was the previous.

Unfortunately Excel is playing funny buggers for me so all the stat facts that can come out of this, I can't find atm.

But ironically the last time a player kicked 14 goals in a match was none other than Mark Ducker in 1991. :)

Now that's worth a giggle ;)

Wow - what a performance!
Who'd have picked that????
Couldn't believe the scores when I was told them after my game.
Norwood??? Form side???
Havelberg - what an effort. He first went forward against Westies IIRC and made a good impression then.
Sad to see Currie retire. Good luck to him.
SMAC I have a pic of him with a junior rep side that my dad coached if you're interested.

Wonder how many Norwood fans will be logging into there today?

If the AFL scouts did not know who HAVELBERG was before this w/end they sure would know, any 19 year old kicking 14.1 in a senior side in the SANFL would definitely make AFL clubs take notice

He obviously is not tall enough to be a Key Forward, but with the way AFL footy is played, clubs are looking for that Mark Williams (180cm) from Hawthorn type of forward who can lead fast and hard, have sure hands and kick accurately....

Brad Johnson plays this Role with the Bulldogs, Ebert for Power, Brad Fisher (190cm) for Carlton, Headland for Freo, Corey Jones (187cm) and Edwards (184cm) for Kanga's, Welsh (187cm) for Adelaide and Johnson and McGraph for the lions

Even though Havelberg is not a key position forward, he may get his opportunity, and he probably still has a few cm's left in him
