So with the point that means you are 13 points up. Still time for the Magpies. I hope South keep playing constructive footy and don't sit on the pill from here. Looking godd though.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Was another quick goal to South then a qick reply from Port.

Final score:

South 14.5 (89)
Port 11.10 (76)

We responded really well under pressure in that final qtr, getting late goals to seal the win. Nice to win at home again and to knock the Magpies off. A win that we really needed, a gutsy performance. Need to take this forward into the rest of the season. :-)

Not a bad game. Bit scrappy, both half back lines dominant. But good to get a win.

Port certainly had their chances late in the game. It looked as though south had stopped to a walk.

Best for south imo- prendergast, bennett, Sampson, archard (is their a better set shot in the comp?), wright were pretty good all day, while kenna, mcgrath, parry had moments.

We avoid north, centrals and eagles over the next 5 or so weeks, so we still hold our fortunes in our own hands.

Are we back?

Can we make the 5 ???

Over the next few weeks will be critical. Next week against Sturt should be a fantastic game.
If we can knock off Sturt the season could be looking a lot more promising!!

Wow, what a season so far. Pecentage will be critical at the end of the season I think. (something we need to work on)

Well done today Panthers. Nothing better than beating the swampies with a stacked up side.
So whats your next trick Chocco????!!!! :butthead:
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Cool! Wins for us this year have been somewhat thin on the ground, so its great to see the club finally jag one.

Are the Panthers good enough to make the finals, I think that we have the team to do it, yet I think that we blew our chances when it counted earlier in the year to qualify in winning form. - Still as John Reid used to say - A week is a long time in Football! 8)

I went down to have a look at this game. Quite an enjoyable game I thought - some good skills on display especially considering there were some quite soft patches from all the rain. Some good hard play as well to go with it.

Both defenses were on top - though both sides went forward at times with some ordinary disposal. Port never really looked like winning to me - though they did have their chances in the last. 3 points in as many minutes half way through the last were all quite gettable from where I was sitting. So, instead of being in front they were still a goal down. After that South steadied and put a couple through to show how it should have been done.

I would like to know how many goals Twomey (#22) kicked for South - he seemed to have a fair bit of it up forward. Archard was very good and Kenna was very quick. Bennett was solid all day.

South did well today too to organise an Auskick parade before the main game so there were lots of kids around. My 2 enjoyed their walk around the oval with the eldest snapping some imaginary goals from impossible angles! So from them thanks to whomever came up with the idea.

Cheers

I see no reason why Port, on this result, won't finish 8th this season.
Horrid, especially considering the early season form/results.

Yeah and i'm really sure Choco gives a lot of thought to the South/Port game when picking his team. Paranoia  South supporters should actually be glad that they've had Carlile for as long as they have had him.

Consider 1) Wakelin didn't play last year against the Bulldogs because of match up issues. Additionally Carlile needs to be given experience in the AFL because theres a fair chance Wakelin wont be there next year.

2) Krakouer has played very little football at all in the last month or so.

Hi Dutchy

Yes "Eye of The Tiger" is on my song list
(Although I did take it off when we played Glenelg back in May  :) )

BTW it was NAB everywhere down at the Jungle today with the auskick promotion.
They gave out 270 inflatable hands for the parade and 300 kits afterwards
Pretty stoked with how it all went given I'm pretty passionate about promoting SANFL football directly to this age group and it's nice to see one of my crazy ideas come to successful fruition.

ABTW bumped into the old Magpies trio from Collections, ie BB, AO & PG on the hill.
