your kidding arent you? we push Centrals twice within 4 goals and beat 2nd and 3rd when they were both in hot form...theyy all seemed to have "off" days when playing Glenelg?

:?

Okay "off day" may be a bit unfair although North didn't play well full stop in the loss to Glenelg so we will have to agree to disagree but going by your response above - you think you are a GF candidate? Read my post again - the Bays haven't even managed to occupy a top 5 spot at any stage this year - something that even West have been able to claim. If you believe the Tigers a genuine GF candidate with Centrals then so be it? I wonder where that places my team North - just making up the numbers and clearly no chance given the leagues best 2 teams are Centrals and Glenelg.

Pfft a Glenelg v Central GF nothing could be further from the truth...

Its going to be Glenelg v North and the entrails of the bulldog I've read tells me the result will be the same as 75% of the times Glenelg and North have met in a GF!!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Seems like I'm turning into a minor celebrity, after RPH also thanked me (and MayZ and Deborah) twice by name last Sunday for giving them our stats during the Glenelg game.

You still have missed the point of my post re this arguement and based on what you have stated, you still think your a genuine GF chance which is what I took BP to task with in the first place??? A bit hard to follow was it?

Maybe you shouldn't be so selective in highlighting bits of my posts if you miss the actual overall point I was trying to make.

Yep at this stage of the year the punters will be dropping bundles on the most obvious GF match up - Central vs. Glenelg! I'd better make my way post haste to Thorntons now!

looking at the remaing draw, i reckon the eags are safe even though they have the top 3 in successive weeks after they play glenelg and norwood however i still reckon they can snare 10 wins which will be enough. Norwood i believe are gone unless they beat the other sides vying for 5th - south x2 glenelg and port once, only one of those is at home but on the otherhand that might be a bonus considering they have only beat the bays at coopers so far, however lets not forget the legs played some pretty good footy before their last bye and some sort of return to that form gives them some chance but i am saying no.
Port havent won since christ knows when and their next 4 could continue that trend with north south and glenelg away with only the less than salivating prospect of playing the doggies at home sandwiched in between those toughies away, timmy must be spewing at the fact that his boys have only got a point out of his last 3 games and will probably miss out accordingly.
South - who knows what to expect, they have shown glimpses but i am sure that all the panther fans would be hugely disappointed with this year, their best form will get them in however when are they going to produce it, knock off sturt tomorrow and they are a huge chance, like norwood they have to make the most of their games against other sides - legs x2 port and bays once, the jury is still out as far as i'm concerned at the mo.

Last but not least we have the tiges - quite simply we need to win our 4 remaining home games being norwood, south, port and sturt plus 2 away games, one being against the hapless bloods meaning a win against the eags or north away a tough ask however i am hoping that we can get away with a win against wwt who we play twice.

Current form suggests maybe glenelg but who knows with injuries and what not, one thing is for sure though we are in for a great run home!!!!!

I've got Glenelg making the five with a quick visit to http://calc.footysa.com/ (roundly based on current form only) :-

1 Central 38
2 North 31
3 Sturt 24
4 Glenelg 23
5 Eagles 18

Many weeks to go yet, but (edit: from their remaining games) I couldn't really pick against Glenelg with any real with confidence versus anyone except (maybe?) North. Not totally off the card that the Bays just scrape into third. Maybe that metaphoric limb isn't as flimsy as some may think.

However, given the above table result (I repeat - many weeks to go yet), Glenelg - no finals since 1999 - must get past three sides that have played in at least three of the last four league finals series to make the GF, regardless of the GF opponent.

Its pretty hard to make the GF from 5th BP :?

True, but it has been done before. Only time will tell and I did say I was going out on a limb on this one. However, Glenelg have been very competitive of late and deserve to be given a chance. The game against Norwood tomorrow may give a clearer indication of how good they are though.
Cheers.

Something tells me that I may have to revise my thinking. I did not expect Sturt to perform as well as they did against South. Have been waiting for at least one wheel to fall off the Sturt machine this year but I may have underestimated them. Makes for an interesting season.

Well, iv'e certainly changed my opinion... i said south . I now suspect Norwood, or maybe Port will sneak in. Norwood have a slightly easier run home and play south and west again. Port just because they are likely to snag a couple of suprise wins and sneak in like last year when they rolled centrals late in the year and snuck in with an inferior % to Glenelg. Frustrating thing is i can remember about 3 seasons where westies got in the 5 with 8 or nine wins. To miss with 10 wins and a % over 50 in a nine team comp is desperately unlucky.

It seems my earlier comment was off target as I just did a run down if North lost every game except for when the play West then we'd still come 4th or 5th.

1. Central 19w
2. Sturt 15w
3. Eagles 12w
4. North 9.5w
5. Glenelg 9.5w

6. Norwood 9w
7. Port 8w
8. South 5w
9. West 2 w

(Norwood fans will be barracking for West when they play North)

Glenelg has three crucial games coming up: South, West and Port. Based on current form and ladder position games Glenelg should win if they have a decent crack* at it....

However the last 15 years have toaught me the phrase "should win" and the Pronoun "Glenelg FC" are not necessarily mutually compatable....

Put it this way if we lose one of these three it make, making the finals will be bloody difficult and the fact we would have lost to a team or teams below us on the ladder indicates we probably don't deserve to be there either.

Go YOU MIGHTY TIGERS, time to stand up and be counted....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
