Unless there are special circumstances. I don't support mergers, but Torrens did what they thought was best for their survival. You'll see from my original post that I made no mention of it, only because I'd hate to see the majority tarnished by the comments of an individual. But LEH goes right ahead attributing such comments to me anyway. Then goes further, using it as justification for his attack in the first place. So to me, it reads as "South suck, rah, rah, rah, we are much better because we merged, so stick that up ya' Blue Bottle!"
Sorry if "throwing in the towel" has hit a sore spot, but I thought it was pretty restrained given what LEH is blurting out.

Although it may make the forum a more boring place, I think that people (like LEH) should think before posting. :)

You are right spelly (again!).

And keep posting Rising! I don't mean to come across too harsh! We all have passion for our clubs and that's a good thing. :)

I've said this before but I'll bring it up again. Instead of merging (and who would really WANT to see a club like South go by the way after all these years), why not bite the bullet for a few years until they get back up on their feet again & share another club's facilities? It's like this...
1) go the way that you are & risk disappearing into oblivion,
2) amalgamate & that would be with either Glenelg, Sturt or West, or
3) "move in" with another club, with some assistance from The SANFL & the other clubs, for a short period of time?

Cheers Aerie. I know where you are coming from, so I appreciate the point you were making.
I also wholeheartedly agree with Spelly's last post.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

But South are one of the richer clubs aren't they? Their problems aren't financial.

But at this rate, they won't be soon. It's called preventative maintenance, don't try & fix it when it's completely stuffed, have some vision, read the writing on the wall, swallow some pride & do something now to prevent total collapse.

We aren't going to bloody collapse. Our money comes from pokies and I'd hazard a guess that most people that play them couldn't give a toss about how many games the SAFC are winning. They are just there to play the pokies!! We can continue to survive and remain the strongest club for many years to come>
