Channel Seven have just advised the SANFL that they have changed their mind and want to televise the Port v South game, instead of the Glenelg v Central one, so that means Channel 7 and 5RPH have just done a straight swap.

Nothing else was stated in regards to a change of start time, so would assume that yes, it is normal 2:10pm time, C7 coverage starting at 2:00pm...

For reasons like this is why Seven probably don't want to release their intended TV games for the entire year as they want to be able to change them with little fuss maybe.

yeah its probably the reason. did the ABC do the same or was it locked in?

definitely makes sense to televise the top of the table clash instead of the (almost) bottom of the table one

Yeah this makes sense. As it is both Glenelg and Centrals have been on tv a couple of times. Seven stuck with Eagles Glenelg last week in spite of the fact that Port Sturt would have no doubt pulled a larger audience, so can't knock them for this.

I can see the logic but on that basis Port will be on virtually every week

As a West Adelaide fan I'm just wondering how long it will take 7 to televise one of our games. I know Westies aren't travelling to well (though we have won our last 2), and that we're far from being the best supported club in the SANFL (we're definitely in the bottom 2 or 3 for crowd numbers and overall number of supporters).....but 7 weeks into the season and we're yet to be on TV with no sign of that changing for a while.

I can see why 7 would focus on the top sides or those with a larger following, after all, they are in it to get ratings and I can't blame them for that. But didn't they say when they got the broadcast rights that every team would get somewhat of an equal coverage? So far that hasn't really been happening.

The good news is that all things being equal , each team gets on TV 4 times - no one has had that many as of yet. It won't help your crowd figure on that day when it's telecast though.

PS: Last year, on average, everyone had 5 or 6 matches, so there is less exposure there. There might be more advertisements for the matches and on a commercial station, but the core audience misses out on their club a bit more, particularly in the country audience.

I reckon West v Glenelg the following week is the televised game.

I have a massive issue if ALL clubs dont get EQUAL amount of television exposure. This is a huge selling point to potential sponsors and a way of attracting new supporters and members. (Except my club who are rat poo at the moment.)

If 7 pick and choose to have some clubs on TV more than others it is not a level playing field.

Not fair on other clubs and not fair for the supporters.

There will be a massive stink over this.

Can understand why the change has happened but very annoyed that it has taken such late notice to do so.

Port and South have been on the up from round 1 and Centrals and Glenelg have looked ordinary since round 1. This decision could have been made at least a fortnight ago.

My plans for the weekend have been massively thrown out.
