Good to hear. Hopefully some more to follow as the AFL draft nonsense sorts itself out in the near future.

urprised by Matt McDonough to North. Thought the Eagles would have locked him in. He might think he is more likely to get a game there.

How do North fans feel about Harvey back after he decided not to play finals a couple of years ago?

Pretty sure they would be happy for any player at their club to be in a position to have to make that sort of decision again

Hard to gauge what sort of player he will be in the SANFL. He was drafted as a half forward rather than a midfielder and doesn't have any particular weapon but is rather an all-rounder. I have no idea what kind of $$ he was offered by North or whether that was the reason he decided to go there. But with what little salary cap the eagles have left I am glad they didn't spend it on him as they need to be a bit more strategic based on need rather than just signing players just because they were former juniors. We badly need to recruit someone for the midfield now Rowntree is out and I don't think McDonough would have been the answer. Still, it will be interesting to see how he goes.

With Rowntree out for the year and Thurlow and Martyn gone there is definitely money left in the salary cap

Picking up Giles takes a bit of coin from the cap

Not sure if its been mentioned on here, cant be bothered going over the last few pages and checking, but I heard Matty Wright has agreed to return to North's if he isn't picked up by another AFL club.

Where was it announced that Thurlow and Martyn have left?

Disappointing if true. After investing lots of time and patience into Martyn he finally became a regular this year and played some excellent games.

As for Thurlow.....well he was just plain disappointing. The biggest guy in competition, built like a gorilla yet constantly got thrown around like a rag doll instead of dominating at the centre bounce. Still, I assume we are banking on Redden signing with us which would have meant we had a surplus of ruckman.

It was announced to the players earlier this week. Thurlow off to Queensland

Norwood will remember Luke Mitchell well from the ANZAC Day clash a couple of years ago at Adelaide Oval where he kicked a bag, took a heap of grabs and, for what would have been a very rare occasion, made then Legs skipper Kieran McGuinness look average after being way too good for Alex Forster...

Apart from that, the former Carlton big man spent a lot of time injured or struggling in the Roosters twos. Will be interesting to see how he goes on the small deck at The Parade...

That game was Mitchell's only good game for North, and even then he was very poor in the first half that day. He kicked three magnificent goals from outside 50 in the last quarter to finish with 4 for the day. He was helped markedly that day by Todd Miles going up forward giving North two big targets plus young Ryan Burton in his second league game chipping in for a couple of goals. He seemed to be always injured at North.

I personally wouldn't have let Mitchell go if I were in North's position, but I think that he has been released because of his relationship with at least one other now ex-player who allegedly had off field issues. I have heard that Mitchell had no off field issues himself so maybe North have made a mistake there,
