Always love reading a bunch of outsiders trying to tell me about my club.

Port Adelaide will determine its identity. But thanks for your input.

Only trouble is no one at Port knows what that is, they have been confused about it for 16 years

Besides, it shouldn't be called the SANFL anymore, it is technically AFL-SA now... the SANFL should do the right thing and rename itself and make a distinction between SANFL flags and AFL-SA flags, as its a different competition now.

That'd be like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
The AFL has decided to take a dump on the SANFL, we should be withdrawing our support from that league, or specifically Crows and Power, rather than dreaming up ways to make our comp more unattractive.

I'm not dreaming up ways to make the SANFL more unattractive. The league directors did that. They're putting a dress on my Dad and calling him my Mum, sorry, I can tell the difference! The fact is that two AFL clubs now have development teams in the league with an overriding objective to develop players for another league and market their AFL brand (over and above any SANFL brand) more than anything else and THAT is something the SANFL has never been about.

As I've said before... if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... its AFLSA and not the SANFL.

Apologies if this has already been raised, but I havnt been following this thread previously.

But, when are the AFL Reserves games likely to be played? At Adelaide Oval as curtain raiser to the AFL games? I'm guessing that Adelaide Oval will be the Crows Reserves home ground?

AFC will be playing all games away from home in 2014. Power v AFC games to be played at Alberton apparently, although wouldn't surprise me if they snuck one in as a curtain raiser to a showdown.

In future years once the AFC/Power start pulling the strings to an even greater degree, it wouldn't surprise me if more games become curtain raisers.

I love it how Crowey and Drone on AA make out their SANFL diehards, then when pushed, Drone usually comes out with "how many will they get" comment, as if that's the be all and end all.
The SANFL was about more then that. We had tradition.
Anyhow, if the SANFL has held back the Candy's and PAP smears all this time, well,

Totally agree, how can they be called PAM, they are one club, the port adelaide power. The "state" league team is the powers reserves, call it that ffs

All SANFL clubs should paint up some Port Power signs for their scoreboards for when they have to host Port Power's reserves team.

Cool, Port is a Power. The newspaper headlines have been running with that one after Grand Final wins since the '80s

Anyone who thinks that AFL curtain raisers (and lots of them) are not on the agenda is being naive. Especially if a commercial TV deal is going to be struck. The easiest way to reduce the expense associated with commercial coverage (which will have to be borne by the SANFL) is to telecast AFL curtain raisers.

"ALL eight SANFL clubs with no AFL link are said to have requested the chance to host the Crows reserves in the SANFL opening round.

Adelaide finds this a bit rich considering two SANFL clubs - Central District and South Adelaide - voted to keep the Crows reserves out of the state league and now want to baptise them."

There's $ANFL "integrity" for you!

"are said to", aka "my understanding is", and generally used when one is not sure of the facts at hand. Mind you, as they say, "never let the facts get in the way of a good story."
