So we have your word that nothing has happened or will happen with Alvey at Port then?
The Sunday Mail also had something in the paper a couple of weeks ago about another SANFL player who was looking to quit his club before he even played a game for them. I think they might have been talking about Alvey that time.

Well the rumours/news (what ever you want to call it) is that Alvey ALLEGEDLY wants out but has to find a way to payback his already gambled, I meant spent sign on fee. Also heard Baird is not overly impressed with the Magpies either and is also looking for an outclause? A few lesser ligths at the Magpies not impressed withthe $$$ paid to the new recruits?

I still can't comprehend how the Sunday Mail somehow these things. Surely they should be kept in-house. The last people you'd want to find out would be a newspaper. The Butcher stuff was written in last week's paper then the club comes out and says he's leaving 4 or 5 days after that. Makes Glenelg look pretty stupid I reckon when the newspaper knows as much about the club as the people running it???!!!

There's obviously someone down the Bay way who likes to cause waves.

Been a problem for years. All clubs have stuff ups, dramas, unhappy players, players doing silly things, players on financial or lifestyle difficulties, etc etc etc. Unfortunately at the bays there has been a very much "can i tell someone before you do" policy for the last few years, whereas most other clubs are keeping things in house.

I do know that all the playing group and support staff were told to act and talk positive a few weeks ago, and all the players that i have spoken to in the last few months have been VERY positive about Mark Mickan.

Unfortunately, for reasons that i don't fully understand, some people cherish bad news and enjoy spreading this bad news far and wide and presumably thrive in the woe and gloom it causes to their club and other far more positive supporters.

I have wondered whether these "supporters" are happier when the bays lose a game compared to when they win a game?

I know it's the newspapers job to report things like that but I'm sure the glenelg bosses would be pretty p....d off that the story got out. Someone from the club must have told the paper.

I reckon the CEO publicly stating that the club was 100% in support of Simmo (*) the day before they shafted him made them look stupider than this!

(*) - or whatever he said. I don't care to remember the exact wording.

According to some, it was a problem what certain former posters on FootySA were saying about the Bay administration.
Unless they were on the committee or involved in some other way, why did the club care what they said? It is only a forum after all.

I know what you're saying, but I didn't read anything about Butcher on here until it was in the paper (the rumour anyway). Seems to me there's someone at the Bay who was straight on the phone to the paper as soon as it happened.

Dont be surprised if Butcher doesn't end up at the doggies - I have heard that he might end up with Port Magpies.

So you're saying Butcher's plans have hit a SNAG?

hooray for serious threads devolving into bad pun contests!
