What about the 1000's of keen footballers that have school, amateur league or country footy commitments of their own that might like to see some games?

Stuff 'em, if they were that keen they would do what I did and play in a comp on Sundays.
Its when the league has games on several days that stuffs everyone up as you can't plan around that.

How many leagues play on Sundays?

You're saying "stuff em" to a fair population of football enthusiasts ... I'm not suggesting we should become a Sunday league to suit them, but surely a few Sunday and Fri night games mixed in with the Saturday games is the ideal situation?

Unfortunately Wedgie, no football comps on Sunday, just soccer ones.

Bzzt, wrong, and I know because I played in one (managed to chalk up 50 games) and still look at the scores of that league every week in the footy season.

Has anyone mentioned that all "normal" games commence at 2pm this year as opposed to the varied times in 07?
I do prefer a later start but Im glad its consistent this year no matter if its an ABC game or not.

Personal Post Only

I dont like the 2:00pm start but agree better to have all games at the same time.

If we needed to change for media coverage then i think the 2:15 was OK.

I know it is to encourage those who may wish to go to AAMI at night an opportunity to keep wih SANFL and especially for clubs to get people back for presentations etc rather than racing home to watch AFL etc. Plus means not as dark in the middle of winter at end of game given most grounds dont have full lighting.

2:00 means day starts very early for all with the reserves and setting up especially when travelling away.

My personal thoughts only

Re Thebarton

We can play up to 3 games a year at Thebby.
We have programmed 2 home games there in 2008.

Each team is allocated 10 home and 10 away this season as was 2007 whereas in the past we had neutral games and only 9 at home with 9 away and 2 neutral.

Our 3 games at Thebby have been 2 of our home games with 1 neutral still leaving 7 home at Woodville. (We paid for 2 with neutral being shared and/or league paying)

2007 saw 3 home at Thebby and 7 at Woodville BUT the cost of staging the Thebby games last year was significant when compared to a game at Woodville. Just over 9000 attended the 3 games with half at the Anzac Day game, which sadly we dont have in 2008.
Thus while still wishing to acknowledge our heritage at Thebarton - thus 2 games in 2008, we cannot justify the extra costs of moving more than 2.

Our costs at Woodville arent reduced because we move a game but we have the extra of ground hire, temporary cool rooms, movement of +/or hire of equipment for food and drink booths, PA system hire and set up etc.

Thanks for the explanation, CD.

We were told earlier this year that there were plans to have some night matches at Thebarton in 2008. Can you update us on what has happened in this regard? I thought night matches at Thebby would have been a real coup for the Eagles.

prefer coopers!

MT it would be very unfair because all of the crowd would be in one packet of the ground. How would we all get our Coopers look this will work West End Pocket and 3/4 Coopers stadium.
