Today I was subjected to baiting and abuse from a group of Sturt supporters who were probably seeing their second or third match match in the last decade. I also spoke to other supporters at the postmatch who were also abused.To throw abuse and scorn at a team and their supporters whom you are belting in my opinion is not particularly classy.

I was stood on the hill with three or four of my mates just in front of the beer caravan. Personally I like a bit of banter with the opposition support but I am always careful to keep it light hearted and humorous (where possible). We had a group of South supporters standing just up behind us and for the majority of the day they engaged in some good back and forth banter which made for an entertaining afternoon.

This was until about halfway through the final quarter when these South supporters obviously let the frustration of their teams performance get to them and brought out some less than savoury comments about Sturt being "poofters" and suggesting that Sturt supporters are into "kiddy porn". Now as I suggested before, light hearted banter at the footy is great but this crossed the line and consequently the last few minutes of the game were marred by some nasty sledging.

These blokes know who they are.

So Blueandwhite, perhaps a look in your own backyard is needed. If you were standing in a completely different area then obviously I can't comment.

Further to that, having read a few more of the posts on the topic I can pretty safely say the foul mouthed abuse of South players, supporters and even cheer girls did not come from near where we were standing. As mentioned earlier, the banter in our general area for three and a half quarters was pretty funny. I even managed to get egg on my face at one stage after a South supporter yelled out to Sarge Perrie whilst he was lining up for goal, "I'll give you 2/1 Perrie". I then proceeded to ask this supporter what the odds were for South kicking A GOAL as they were 0.1 at that point which brought raucous laughter, only to have my bubble well and truly burst when South did indeed goal about 30 seconds later...........

All in all it was a good day.

southies, if you are that pissed off you lost, er i mean, upset over some drongo supporting the blues on the weekend who was being a loud mouth, then bloody well do something about it instead of bitching and moaning. we couldnt give a s**t how you feel as we know that these idiots are no reflection on our great club. I suggest you write a letter to Stuart Totham with the description of this guy and make a proper complaint so something constructive can be done and we rid the league of such venom.

Not dirty over losing, not at all. We were beaten by are far better side.
The abuse I heard was not coming from beneath the barbq area by the way. I reiterate, its not particularly classy to abuse deride and denigrate the opposition when you are belting the crap out of them. All that does is initiate trouble.
