Thanks to those that have confirmed that they are coming to help tonight. Much appreciated and look forward to meeting you all.
However, :( unfortunately the guy that usually transports the banner to and from the games for our North Adelaide banners, can't tranport this one for the State Game so I'm after someone to be able to help out. Preferrably someone that is coming tonight that can take it with them when its finished and drop it to Adelaide Oval Saturday morning otherwise it can be collected before 5pm on Friday. The NAFC won't have anyone at the club on Saturday to return it then so that will have to be done on the Monday (or ASAP during the week during normal business hours). I will be able to offer this person a car park pass in addition the the match ticket. Otherwise, we'll get it done by courier.
Please let me know if ya can help. Cheers :D

Wait 'till after the game, those that wern't there should have to wait 'till the game to see it. How did the little fella's pictures turn out

It was good too meet a few others from here, I think by the end of the night Big Phil and me had the letter making pretty well under control (with Mrs Magpies_Forever cutting them out) , not bad for first timers, Tania (Dizzy1) did a great job of organising it all, tea from the SANFL was good but would have been nice if they could have got the tickets there before tomorrow

Turn out was pretty poor, from memory
5 from North (Dizzy1, Dids, Phil, Bec & me)
3 from Port (Mr & Mrs Magpies_Forever & Liam (sorry, can't remember your username) )
2 from Central, (Big Phil & Dogsbody)
1 from West (Thiele)
1 from the Eagles (PhilH)

It was a great effort from so few, it would have been good to have another 10 or 15 show, we may have got home before 11.30.

About the slogan, it was determined by the SANFL (both sides), I'm sure we could have been more creative, perhaps not politically correct enough for the league. The banner does look good, especially the back, it's not a bad size, probablly about 15-18 foot shorter than North's GF banner last year, still bigger than most though.

That's how I would have summed things up, without even seeing it.
I remember back in the 80's some banners that were made for state games had some pretty controversial slogans. Mid-80's the 4 point loss where Kernahan kicked ten under lights at Footy Park, the banner had a big "SANFL" where I think the "S" somehow had a mouth with rows of teeth ready to tear at a little "VFL" perched well within its bite. The overall slogan I think was something not too kind to the visitors, but the thing caused a bit of a stink in administration land.
Forward to 1989 and the day we got belted at the MCG. I attended a meeting at Prospect where the various cheersquads were planning the Banner. Central Districts appeared to have the winning slogan (remembering that the VFL was expanding by this stage, had swallowed the WAFL already and were regularly making scouting trips into SA to buy up our players) which went something along the lines of "Victoria, We Find You Guilty of Treason Against the Game of Football, We Judge That You Shall Be Punished By Hanging" or something like that. It was planned to have a picture of a noose off to one side with some bloke in the big V dangling from it.
That was the story, but the SANFL made a real point of wanting to know what was going on the banner, and obviously they weren't going for it.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Anouncement

We are going to need a few extras to help hold up the banner, would prefer people with experience holding up a large banner.
Dizzy1 is hoping to take photos rather than hold it up, it would be good to have someone taking pics's of the back as the players run through as well.
We will need about 20 to get it up* and hold it up.

Anyone wanting to help needs to be at the gate between the southern fence of the members and the players race about 5 minutes before the end of the U18's game, if too many show up selection will be based on firstly who was there last night, topped up by experience and/or physical strength to get it up*, hopefully twice if the weather is good, we are hoping to show the front to the outer first.

Thankyou
I should have mentioned on my post last night a big thankyou to the North Adelaide FC for use of the dining room, facilities and staff.
Special thankyou to Jean from the club who was there until after 11.00pm to lock up. Also thank you to the club and Northern Tavern for sending down some hot meals to top up what the SANFL supplied, and Glen for getting Jean to open up the bar due to lack of beverages from the league.
Biggest thankyou goes to Dizzy1 for all of her work prior to last night, great effort, should also thank her boss, a fair bit may have been in his time

It was a tad dissapointed with the lack of numbers there last night, pity that EACH club didn't at least have 1 representative there...

All involved did an excellent job anyway and although I had to leave at 9.30pm (after 5 1/2 hours service) the banner was well on the way to being completed...

Was great to meet a few other forum users, in particular Ian, we did do a great job with the letters, it was a good little production line...

Very much looking forward to seeing the finished result, all for a few minutes before the players DESTROY our hard work !!??

Looking forward to the game as well, obviously, should be a ripper...

Bit stiff, but not too bad. Looks like there's still not much interest in holding it up, my 14yo son and his mate are pretty keen, still need a few bigger/stronger people though.
