Could the Bays have still been a bit sore from the Dogs game last week? We all know that they are a quality outfit, yet we also know that Sturt were a bit undermanned. The way the Dogs capitulated against the Eagles today I am just wondering if that game last week somehow sapped both competitors?
I reckon it is a factor worth considering. Did the game last week have any bearing on this one?

There's a few on there Smithy.
Apparently GrahamL also thinks that he's a soft lazy footballer that kicks goals when it doesn't matter!

If that's the case then there's probably not much either side could take away from today, one having 7 changes forced on it from the week before, the other still recovering from a slugout with the other heavy weight of the comp'.

Frees were Glenelg 19 - Sturt 18 .
When McConnell plays footy he's a good player but does look for the free far too often and the umps never got sucked in to him today.

Wouldn't of thought there was too much wrong with that comment?

It's the grammar mate, it should read "sucked in by him."
I don't blame him for taking you to task over that one.

The great irony is that Sturt's last foray forward was foiled by a solid mark to a lone Bays player in defence, well away from the pack.... one Justin McConnell.

Perhaps Macca does appeal for the frees when he fluffs the marks. It matters not a jot. His strength lies in his creativity. Some players are solid lead-mark-kick types. Not our Macca; he's the one who sharks the ball off the packs and snaps a miracle goal when it's needed. His value to the Glenelg side cannot be understated. Bag him all you like; the simple truth is that he plays a certain role and plays it well.

If you think that my comment is bagging him then you lot are a bit too precious.

I expect the mail bag of one Nick Chigwidden to be full of hate mail this week from Glenelg supporters if that's the case because he thinks exactly the same thing.

hey baysboy, 6 first team players out, and we go down by 8 points, that was a good bloody effort. glenelg were at full strength and that is all you can do.

well done to both supporters for rocking up today, what a awesome crowd.

firstly yes sturt had a lot of players out, secondly glenelg were NOT at full strength but were not as decimated as sturt was but we were down to 19 FIT MEN well before 3/4 time

it was a great contest both sides could have won & i think the more experienced team won on the day & as i said the other day the result of this game means nothing to when they meet sometime during september or dare i say october
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

lol, I think after a number of years either being at the top or near the top Central and Eagles fans know that too well and are willing to pass that info on. :) By the way, this needs to be repeated in the overused phrases thread in the General Discussion board.
