Does anyone nearby care to comment on the actions of the Port Cheer squad? Did they get involved at all?

Funny how no one has mentioned that the Centrals cheer squad ran about 80 metres to get involved

The incident was in the forward pocket, the "cheersquad" are directly behind the goals. It's a big ground, but...

And at the other end of the ground as we were kicking to the southern end at the time. The Port Cheer squad started on the grass behind the concousre but got down to the fence as fast as their moccies could carry them.

The port cheersquad were on the concourse from the start. If people ran down from the grass behind them they weren't a part of the cheersquad.

That is correct. I have been amazed by this thread, a lot of people have been offering opinions when they obviously have not seen the incident, nor really haven't seen it clearly enough. Also, club loyality has clouded the judement of a few. McCabe's actions were unnecessary and should not be accepted in our game as it has the potential to cause serious injury.

And I really hate these macho B/S comments about footy being a tough game. Nobody enjoys good honest physical contact in footy more than I do, but there is nothing tough about picking off an innocent by-stander at a bounce. Snipers aren't tough, they are cowards.

Yep, Central's end-to-enders would have needed a Tardis to get to the Northern pocket in time for the brawl.

Dont know if they were end to enders or what they were, but there were quite a few doggies supporters behind the nothern goals, and about 25 or so of them ran over to the fence where the fight was. Thats a fact, but Im not saying anything happened or they did anything. I was standing just around from the Balfours and Coke vans in the south-eastern pocket. I spent most of the time trying to work out who the Port player that got injured was.

You cant compare someone being cleaned up when they take a mark to someone being cleaned up 10 metres off the ball.

Id like to actually find out what happened without all the anti-port bullshit being thrown around in this thread.

As I've stated, I wasn't there, but looking at the footage in the paper, it doesn't back up the argument that Port Cheer Squad members weren't involved. As to the degree of their involvment, that's inconclusive.

Give Centrals some credit for diffusing what could have been a very ugly incident afterwards with two Board members and security ensuring Port's cheersquad was protected from a couple of irate Centrals fans (who should have known better anyway).

Obviously u were not there Borat, the players brawl happened dead in front of the Maggies cheer squad who were on the north west end of the ground they then surged forward to the fence and got involved !!!!!!!

I was at the game and the only time i saw a centrals fan run towards the "incident" was to pull wharfie scum off of our players. Their fans are an absolute disgrace, have a look at the sunday mail and tell me which clubs supporters were involved.
As for the bump I dont know what game FA was watching yesterday if he thinks his team would never take a man down out of the contest. Only difference is the wharfies seemed to have the umpires on their side yesterday, but I guess maggots stick together.

This is why it is imperative that the SANFL take action. They need to take this out of the players' hands and make it clear this sort of thing will not be tolerated. If they do nothing, then it flashes the green light for players to belt each other off the ball, and the next match between these two clubs could get very ugly indeed.
