1733 seems a fairly low crowd, a lot of effort to go through to set up the oval for the match. Likely they would have at least doubled that playing at Adelaide Oval under lights, maybe Sturt's decision to do exactly that this season is not such a bad idea after all!

I agree it was an entertaining game to watch and not overly defensive boring crap.

Bayman - all ok with your young son mate who was being spoken to by 3 security staff ?

he's ok thanks, wasn't going to mention it & it has been reported but to you guys with kids make sure you keep an eye on them when they drift off especially to the toilet, littlebayman had this lowlife put his head over the cubicle looking at him for what he says was 20 seconds, the security have a description of his face & will be keeping an eye on it at all games although as they said it is near impossible to look out for this during the entire day & btw if he sees him again i'll deck him then call security......so be careful with your kids
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Not just pointing the finger at Sturt here as most clubs are doing the same, but slugging people $6.50 for beer and $6.50 for a hotdog with sauce isn`t helping attendances at all.
Honestly the SANFL need to address this as the pricing now is getting out of hand.
Atleast at Prospect we can escape to the cricket club or the RSL. 8)

I agree the prices of beer is a joke ,certainly doesn't entice people back to the club after either.

Beer prices apparently have been agreed collectively by the clubs. I know Sturt don't use their old clubrooms much anymore however it was like a morgue in their pre-match - even allowing for the fact the SFC Club Lunch is held at Barzaar. I was over there for a few quiet ones during the ressies and apart from me and a mate and his dad there were only 3 other blokes at the Bar - Sandy Nelson and two of his mates for well over an hour.

Beers were only served in cans and only chilled (if you can call it that) on ice. Went over with a Sturt "mate" at half time to the VP's bar and the beers there were almost warm. Sturt need to do better in that regard - surely they could have turned on the fridges and chilled the cans overnight or have some kegs going! Even North can get that right? Probably explains why no Sturt members drink at their own club pre-game and by all accounts not many after either?

Catering and food and beverage prices at football has been an abortion for a decade or more... while people continue to pay $6.50 for a beer, prices will remain that way... the key is for everyone to just boycott it and pass on the message.

I'm not sure whether I should be that pleased with this result. I am pleased, pleased that we held on and won the match and I suppose gave ourselves some hope that we would avoid the wooden spoon this year. That's probably where it ends, as even though we won, I'm not actually convinced we're a better team than North Adelaide. I think North has more potential to click and turn around their season, whereas I think we're still a fair way off actually working out what we can and can't do.

I dunno, maybe I'm more pessimistic about my own team than I should be... maybe it's because we conceded 31 scoring shots to the team that is now bottom, 4.11 over two quarters, they could have won easily.

I feel Sturt's REAL position in the league will be known in 3 weeks time. The Central game means nothing, we lose by 10 goals, who cares, it's the subsequent games against Port Adelaide and South Adelaide that matter. We win those games, we're 4-4 for the season and I think can maybe look forward to improving and maybe finishing 10-10 for the year and fluking something. But should we lose those games and be 2-6, I think that'll confirm we're a spoon-level side.

A lot to come...
