Eagles haven't been cruising, having to work for their wins and I wonder how much more "up-side" there is in their game compared to Norwood. Both Eagles wins have been in cool and wintry conditions, so the warm conditions on Sunday will be interesting.
Hopefully Hall and Lane continue their improved form, Petrenko's pace will be important, given the conditions should we gamble on a Batley or Rimmington?

IMHO I can not see Lane Bately and Rimmington playing sunday .If Parry Grocke come back in .

Eagles last 3 wins have not been in cool weather South yes ,West no a hot wind was a blowing then a change and Port yes !!
Last 3 wins 1 push over win in West 2 hard finals like games in south and Port .
Against South played at noarlunga that oval is the same size as footy park!!
How many recent games have Norwood played on an Oval that size !!
Last 2 wins no Parry and Grocke .How much better will the Eagles be with the best ruckman and a strong leading tall forward !!

Parry to replace Hoban, Grocke to replace Lane, but the third change of Petrenko to replace ?

Could be out of deciding between the experienced slow hard-nut Treeby (who had a poor game against Port) or
the inexperienced quick light-framed Tompas (who has played well in his only 2 games)

Wheras Staple and Guifreda have had 'break-out seasons", Raymond has been the biggest improver WITHIN the season for the Eagles and his continued rebound attacking footy is a vital part of our backlines now. (was playing average Seconds footy earlier in the season).

Micky, I was referring to the two wins against Norwood this year when we won being slight underdogs.
Granted, you see the Eagles more than I do, at times Lane seems to have added something to our forward line, nothing outstanding but perhaps something that had been missing.
Agree Bately and Rimmington would be unlikely, which is why I described it as a gamble. If Parry and Grocke come in, with Redden too, and Lane out whether we might be a touch slow if it is 30.

Flying High - can't see Lane making the team ahead of Hall, Goldsworthy and Allmond. All are goal kicking small forwards, to balance up the two talls of Grocke and Staples, either Treeby or Tiller is needed. Lane's defence and hardness are always a problem.

Yeah, look what happened last year and the year before that and the year before that...Centrals won the Premiership. Any wonder we are pessimistic?

Bookies market for this game:

NORWOOD $1.70
EAGLES $2.10

Eagles worth a bet I reckon...

I think I will take up those odds for the eagles to beat norwood.

And if eagles are still at $4 to take out the premiership then I'll be taking a piece of that as well.

IMO the three 'ins' (Grocke/Parry/Petrenko) should be replacing (Tiller/Hoban/Lane). Keeping the balance of the side similar to the last 3 matches is important I think. I hope Toumpas manages to hold his place. He has been playing well and I think he could play a similar role to Smith

What a game this one will be. Winner gets 2 cracks at a GF and loser cops an do or die final against a side coming off a win.

Form wise you would have to think the Eagles are favourites but so often teams with poor form before finals end up turning it around in finals.

Would it be fair to say the reason Norwoods performances against Central and Eagles this year have been slightly poor is they havent really covered the pace lost by losing Duigan and Pupopolo at the start of the year.

How good is the midfield battles going to be

Campbell, Zorzi, Gallagher vs Cicolella, Lewis, Powell

Honestly cant pick a winner so im going to go with a draw.

ummm Eagles because South beat Glenelg and an Eagles/South final would be embarrasing with only 1500 people watching ;)

Hard to say mate, there's no doubt that between those two and Phillips we've lost a lot of pace and "x factor" - Throw in Lower (and Weatherald and Trotter) and the biggest quality that's been hit is leadership.

No excuses though, we recruited pretty well and if a club is good enough to land the double chance then they should be good enough to give the Premiership a crack.

I think for Norwood to be a chance of winning against the better teams, our skill and efficiency has to be very high, and of course that's much more difficult to achieve against the relentless tackling that comes with teams like Central and WWT.

Im not overly confident about this weekend because our form hasn't been anything to write home about for a while now - On paper we should throw out a decent looking team, but we all know what paper is good for.
