Fuller, I tend to agree with the Staple/Day remarks there, but McKenzie?? Give us a spell mate! He 'fumbled' and 'over ran' his way to 29 touches 7 marks and 3 tackles.. Think your being a little harsh there

A) A team who wins comfortably generally gets more frees anyway for a variety of reasons, e.g. having more of the ball, their opponents being frustrated etc.

B) I'll be the first to say that the standard of umpiring in the SANFL is ordinary, but to suggest that they even them up near the end of the game is silliness (and so not original)

Thanks captain obvious

And north looked shocking worse than the eagles against everyone else .While bringing the ball out of defence funny that .any wider and they would have been in the stand :)

You have a rival here centurion

Lucky we didnt tell Norths coach hey he seemed not to notice ;)

The Eagles by 10! Hmmm, I missed by a couple but that's life heh. That's a rather large elephant waking up slowly in the room, hands up everyone who's looking forward to an elimination match in September with Godden's Golden Eagles? We need fifth spot and then watch the opposition choke it up, seems like a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Now who's on the Choker Menu @ Footy Park Cafe,
No.1 everyone's favorite September delicacy Pussy Pie with Bay leaves ;No.2 Bloods Pudding aptly named re. suicide tendancies ;No.3 KFC leftovers ( 21 years since it was at it's best, but Darel Hart recommends! ) ;No.4 BBQ Blue Cat ( Chef Godden recommends fully tenderised (beaten by 10) ) No.5 Red BoarLeg is quite popular but usually only for the well to do, highly seasoned bordering on arrogant maybe due to Head Chef?
Apologises for No.6 Tweed Cap Trout ( Farm is in the hands of Receivers rumour has it ) and No.7 Maggies Pie Floater ( Subject of a Decade long share float to followers that needs someone who can sell sand to the Arabs! ) as both although very popular, just too unreliable to offer to the general public!
Personally, when in doubt go the old favourite and be certain to get our monies worth out of an Uncle Roy spare rib feast for all ( don't forget welfare card for discount ).

I probably am. But I guess I'm comparing him to years past where he'd be clean at every moment. He is absolutely still a great player and I am in no way suggesting he should be dropped. I'm just saying that he is not the same player as last year and is likely due the fact he isn't able to train with the team during the week. It would be tough to maintain your high standards under those conditions.

Re a few posts on this thread:

Agree with RB - team controlling play and playing in front deservedly get the free kicks. I was actually surprised the count was aas close as it was at the end of the game. Umpires were generally good overall and no factor in the final result. They do however need to be more consistent with interpretations and pay the same for both sides.

Amazingly I am going to agree with Mickeyj - North went so wide so often and it wasn't working so why didn't they attempt to attack up the centre but I suspect a lot of that was to do with the pressure from the Eagles.

Re McKenzie - still a good player and roamed around by himself the whole game picking up possessions at will. On the flip side where was his direct opponent - North should have had a free man to mop up a kick behind play or at least make McKenzie earn his possessions. Sadly North struggled all day with any sort of manning up or response to the ability the Eagles had to create space, run and free up players.

My final thoughts on the game were from reading the Sunday Mail article which happily mentioned Jarrad and Grocke missing from the Eagles side but no mention that North lost 4 key players - we really hurt not having Gallman in the role he normally gets annoying the crap out of Lewis but losing our best defender in Miles and more importantly Currie in ruck really did expose us in the end. Currie over the past few weeks has been the form ruckman in the comp. Reporters really need to get it right but why I am surprised with continual ineptitude of the 'Tiser / Sunday Mail? Again the ladder in the Mail had mistakes showing North with 2 game losing streak.

Yep - they played like all they had to do was turn up and when it was evident early that the Eagles were "on" we had no plan B. Plan A was (Allan and Bennett) tagged out of any influence and a majority of our players (dare I say it) were running around like headless chooks. I would say only 4 or maybe 5 players could say they were ok over the whole game - Ryswyk, Bennett (in the end got into the game) Thompson, Ivens and Alleway (if he kicked straight he might have ended with 5 or 6).
