I think they will give Mitchell a game this week seeing as he missed out last week. Who will they leave out?

According the Ken Hinkley, all of the 3 emergenices that have flown to Perth with the Power will fly back to Adelaide on Saturday night and, if not needed for AFL duties, will front in the SANFL Preliminary Final on Sunday afternoon...

Along with Budda Hocking they will leave Perth around 11:50, to Melbourne by 6ish, then the 7:30ish back to Adelaide.

Once Freo eliminate the Pahrrr how many of them are actually eligible?

Most of them I think mate

But if Pahrrr are eliminated how can Impee, Mitchell etc keep playing if they're not qualified??

Often the rules are written based on the round being considered as a whole. So while Port may be eliminated on Saturday, those who were eligible to play SANFL up to that point can play on the Sunday. Would have thought Mitchell and Impey would have qualified in their own right though.

Mitchell is qualified I think, Impey might be too, as is Jake Neade.

The finals count as qaulifying games don't they? Neade wouldn't have played 3 of last 5 for Magpies.

So they travel all night to get home, when are they going to sleep?

Hinckley said they'll be back in Adelaide tomorrow night, they don't have to wait for the entirity of the game like Hocking.

The game starts at 5:45 in Perth time so they would have time to be home tomorrow night.

I had read/heard that they were doing the same as Hocking earlier this week, ie the red eye back to Melbourne.

Happened to them at the Gold Coast game this year.... sent the emergency to the airport from the ground as they thought he wasn't required but then had to turn the taxi around because there was an injury in the warm up....

Correct, Monfries injured pre-game and Young had to return to the ground.

Just to clarify.
The round is viewed as a whole so they play regardless Pahrrr win or lose.
Do finals count towards qualifying or only minor round games?
If only minor round games and Pahrrr ressies get through to the Gf surely they aren't all qualified??

Not that it matters who we face.

Thats the grey area I think mate .. If Impey wasn't already qualified, he would have reached the mark in their last game - Yet he only played that game because their senior team were still going. Whether that would hold in a situation like that or he finishes with the Magpies when/if the Power season finishes, Im not sure.

Mitchell yes. Impey no. O'Shea I don't think so.

If the #carnthepear lose it's probably more likely that the 3 emergencies would NOT play so as to not risk injury to them - but the rules seem to imply they have to play. The reserves have only won 3 out of the last 9 games with very unsettled and unbalanced teams. They haven't had a genuine ruckman since round 8 and had an irish kid with less than 18 games experience playing as a key defender at times. South should romp it home.

This is reminiscent of the curtain raiser to the 1997 State of Origin match where Port played South. During the last half there were probably 20,000 people seated at the time and as South mounted a bit of a comeback all of a sudden they had 15,000 supporters. Seriously it's probably most support they've had at a game since the 1979 grand final. In the end Port won by 27 points and I *think* Tim Ginever and Darren Smiths 300th matches, as they were paraded around the ground in the back of a ute after the match. Good ol' South hey :P

Port also have a $6million salary cap compared to our 330k, also have a team of fulltime professional players who train 7 days a week , they also have state of the art sports medicine and rehab facilities that sanfl clubs could only dream of.

Your right...we should romp in. ..and what an acute embarrrassment for the Port Adelaide football club if we do...
