Agree with #3 wholeheartedly. I might have gone this year if the tickets were significantly cheaper.

I don't disagree with the sentiments of #5, but I wonder if that might discourage some current SANFL club members from renewing full membership, and opting for a cheaper "associate" membership through the Crows/Power?

Psuedo, where is your annual suggestion, bring back Snouts bar??
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Jarman is "unavailable for comment".

Jars responded to every question asked of him by the Budget.
Perhaps you should go and ask the SANFL why his responses weren't in there for the latter half of the season.

Its no secret mate, this was on the North Adelaide Official site earlier this year:

North Adelaide Football Club 26/6/06 wrote:Rooster fans have enquired as to why Andrew Jarman is "Not available for comment". Earlier this year the Budget contacted all League Coaches and sought their responses to a series of questions. In Andrew's case, the Budget writer encouraged a more light hearted response to which Andrew duly obliged - not that he needed much encouragement anyway!

It appears that not all his responses met with everyone's approval, as several have essentially been censored by either the Budget or the SANFL itself. North Adelaide Football Club fully supports our Coach and given the amount of publicity he generates for the SANFL competition so should everyone else.

Not that it's any of my business, but were any reasons given for him not writing on his coaches column since the loss to Central in the finals? What about sending brother Darren to the press conference before the Semi Finals and also the lack of a comment on who would win the Grand Final in The Advertiser after all other 6 coaches gave their opinion? Seems it's not just the Budget that he was "unavailable for comment".

Nah, there wasn't and I don't know the reasons for it (maybe it was because noone asked?) but my guess would be that he's a bit more wary of the media since the Budget/SANFL thing and its probably all related. Even though I don't see eye to eye with Jars on a lot of issues I can probably understand his frustrations and subsequent reactions. He seems only too happy for interviews with Soda or his C10 committments so I'd say there would be a reason for it. Im sure if you ring up Glenn Elliott he'll give you answer.

Jars - wary of the media!!!!

He is good for the comp but it would be nice to see a serious approach to some things. What personality does he show up with to parent/teacher interviews I wonder? Job interviews? Likewise, if only some (or should I say, a lot of!) other coaches showed a bit more light-heartedness sometimes :)

Hell yes I'd love to see the country games put back on the SANFL agenda. They're a good excuse to get away for a weekend.

VIABLE GROUNDS
Bennett Oval, Whyalla (depending on the water restrictions sh*t)
Berri Oval (one of the gates leads straight to a boozer)
Loxton North
Memorial Oval, Pt. Pirie (has light towers similar to Norwood)
Centenary Oval, Pt. Lincoln (if its not gone yet, thanks BIG W)
Clare Oval
Vansittart Park (?), Mt. Gambier
Encounter Bay Oval
Imperials Oval (?), Murray Bridge
Renmark Oval

P*ss Mr Demtel off and get some real fans to star in the ads! Namely ourselves. Not kidding. :D

I'd say the other oval, Lemessurier (Ramblers) is a better venue in Murray Bridge, than Johnston Park (Imperials). Johnston Park has come under quite a bit of criticism the last couple of years for its playing surface.

He's a completely different bloke one on one, I first met him at the Roosters Rally and a very serious and quiet bloke he seemed. I think most of it is show.

Yeah, very neutral, every club trains there in the summer. lmao

We only train their ourselves during the summer due to woody not being available because of district cricket committments. Afterall we also have a historical link to the ground as well. I think if any other club wanted to train there that the approval would be damn easy to obtain.

I don't know if night games played under a full moon is a good idea at Elizabeth we all saw the characters the last time North played there who knows what they will do under a full moon....

Plus I need more to talk about during the off season....

Does the SANFL read this and if not, will a copy be sent to them Wedgie?

I like Dogger's idea of the fans starring in the promotions rather than Mr Demtel.

In the alternative, even an ad like the Alan Border beach cricket one - get Barrie Robran, Russell Ebert and Gary McIntosh to sit in a recliner at a footballer's retirement home (pub, hostel, playing cards or whatever) and get them to reminisce about their days and how much they still love it. Other club icons include Ralph Sewer, Peter Carey, Paul Bagshaw, Roger Luders, Peter Darley, Wilbur Wilson and Lindsay Head.

Some 'wishful thinking' suggestions

1. Finally condemn Coopers Stadium (I'm surprised nobody - player or spectator has been seriously injured or worse there), and make Norwood play all its home games at Adelaide Oval, resulting in all neutral games being played at Thebby.

2. Heated seats in the grandstand at Noarlunga Oval

3. Pram Pusher to replace Tim Shaw promoting the SANFL

4. Maybe try and get Channel 9 to telecast some games (surely it would attract higher ratings than some 1940's movie or Backyard Blitz repeat that's normally shown on a Saturday arvo).

OK, now for some genuine ideas

1. Move all finals back to AAMI Stadium

2. New media campaign (even if it is Pram Pusher)

3. Pre-season competition (knockout with 'lucky loser' - whoever loses by closest margin - also advancing so every team can participate each year)

4. Improved lighting at Norwood, maybe fix lights at Thebby

5. Thebby to be used as main neutral venue while Adelaide Oval drainage work done (though I'll miss wondering whether I'm at a football or water polo game in the middle of winter after a light drizzle, I guess there's still Unley)

6. Get another radio station to call matches to fill the void left by SEN

7. Discounted entry to SANFL finals for club members

8. Promotional round where the gates are opened (free entry for all)
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

VIABLE GROUNDSLoxton North

You're kidding aren't you????
Loxton frigging North??? Windy Bloody Hill more like.
Horrible ground.
Worst ground in the RFL.

Loxton Oval's streets ahead of North, and probably Renmark as well (due to the dog track and iffy grass on the grand stand wing).

But Berri's definitely a suitable place for an SANFL match, an AFL trial was held there in 1998.
Loxton's hosted SANFL matches in the past too.

Waikerie would be a good venue - because of the location. Being reasonably close to Adelaide - it would be inviting for day trippers.

I do know that the RFL's looking into hosting an SANFL game next year. Hopefully my club has a weekend off for that one and I can get there.

One of each teams "neutral" games be shifted to their country zone. With the effects of the drought, this could bring some much needed dollars and cheer to our country areas.
