Must admit that if you dont get to Prospect before the ressies you might as well park 5kms away as parking is shite, Glenelg oval no worries just under a 2km walk from home but a very long stagger home. :D

I get there about 3/4 time and never have to walk any further than about 750m, if it wasn't for paying to park in the Primary School @ the bay, then I'd have to walk at least 2 k's.

Car Parking Summary

Postby Wedgie » Mon Dec 25, 2006 7:46 am

Only ground I have troubles at is Norwood on Fri nights but I find if I get there about 5pm and have dinner at the Norwood Hotel first I usually only have to park 1 or 2 blocks away and that's even with a media pass which gets me awesome parking at other grounds.
Without media pass:
Elizabeth: never a problem, parked at Centrelink (less chance of car getting stolen) before and now inside the gate
Prospect: never a problem since the 80s, used to park in the house next to the park, now inside the gate
Norwood: at best if I rock up early a block south of the Parade, walk through business and at Oval, at worst 10 blocks away
Alberton: always room to park in car park outtside outer side, pity they've closed the gate near the scoreboard though
Richmond: easy these days, car park behind southern goal
Thebarton: plenty of grassed area
Woodville: usually a park near the bowls club, if in the streets horrendous, now get a park next to the club rooms
Glenelg: used to park in the Primary School, no probs, now get a park in the main car park, fantastic!
Noarlunga: acres of land to park in, main car park a prick to get out of though, needs another gate.
Unley: park miles away

In short with a media pass the car parking ranks as such:

1) Prospect
2) Woodville
3) Elizabeth
4) Glenelg
5) Alberton
6) Noarlunga
7) Richmond
8) Thebarton
9) Norwood
10) Unley

without media pass:

1) Alberton
2) Noarlunga
3) Richmond
4) Elizabeth
5) Thebarton
6) Prospect
7) Glenelg
8) Woodville
9) Norwood
10) Unley

My favourite ground to to visit has always been Richmond oval well i am a Westies supporter.
in Order my Favourite grounds are
1.Richmond nothing beats your own teams home ground.
2. Adelaide Oval love going to watch footy there.
3. Prospect watching footy from the cricket club is always a fav.
4. Norwood night footy is always great. not too keen on the wall.
5. Thebarton a top ground needs to be done up and used as a nuetral venue.
6. Glenelg one of those gounds that the outer is shite when wet but great when dry.
7. Elizabeth Never liked going there too far of a trip.
8. Alberton the supporters are wonderful when you are losing and if you win there the supporters are even better.
9. Arctic park see reasons for Elizabeth and it is always cold. Only place known to man on a warm day you can get a suntan and a cold.
10. Woodville terrible parking and just one of those grounds i don't like. I prefer if the eagles would play at thebby.
11. Unley the biggest joke in the SANFL it is time to move to Wayville.
12. Footy Park i hate the seats the SANFL will never fill it time to go back to the Adelaide oval. Also I am not allowed to drink beer in my seat.

I like Prospect Oval the best and Richmond is a close second.
Unley Oval is by far the worst
.All the other grounds have good and bad points but are more than adequate for the SANFL these days.

Some of you guys have too long memories when it comes to Unley - granted it was a poohey sludge pit for a couple of seasons prior and deserved criticism. In 2006 the surface was most certainly league standard.

The biggest thing that gets on my goat at Unley are the yuppie supporters (not always from Sturt either) who claim their patch on the hill with picnic rugs and then bitch if you want to actually stand up and watch the footy. Boo!

The Parade might have a great atmos but the game is virtually unwatchable from Coopers Hill when the ball is up the other end. Mind you it matters less when you've got a pint of Pale in your mit.

Adelaide Oval the same - it's an experience much better in theory than reality.

Noarlunga and Woodville is like going back in time. And not just because of the supporters (well, that doesn't really impact on south I know...). Dreadful grounds to watch football.

My favourites for atmos and view would be Alberton, Glenelg, Prospect and even though I've only ventured out there a handful of times in recent years, I've always had a good experience at Elizbef.

Sometimes at the Parade...
I remember one particular Redlegs versus Double Blues game...
I think it was the Norwood/Sturt Centenary (I could be wrong but the crowd was huge anyway!)
But to cut a long story short... Run out of grog in the third quarter!
I know The Mighty Bays have had that same problem in the past but it's kinda ironic coming from a footy club sponsored by The Cooper's Brewery! :?
With the Norwood Hotel, Colonists Tavern, Bath Hotel, Oriental Hotel & the Alma Hotel all in close proximity!
We all got takeaways that day & it wasn't the first time I've been forced to do that there either!
But other than that... Thumbs up for Norwood Oval! Good location, good atmosphere, specially when they play old foes Ports!
As a Glenelg supporter I sit on the fence & soak up the insanity!
GO THE GROWL!!!
