I think it's important we as fans of SANFL clubs other than North Adelaide gather and spend a week at Prospect some time in the near future so we can take in just what it means to be at a club so friggin brilliant at everything. I feel we're missing out and don't really know what life as a football supporter is like because we follow clubs that are so inferior.

If I could just get a glance at that Champions of Australia trophy I think my life would be fulfilled. Apparently it is flanked by the trophy they won in Darwin last year and on the other side they have left room for their Champions of South Africa trophy they know they'll win very, very soon.

Imagine seeing Jars, Jars or Harty! Oh, it gets me excited just thinking about it! We can find out what the V means on the guernsey. I understand it stands for "Very very friggin brilliant at everything".

Another thing we'll learn is just how important being rich is. If you know you've got money in the bank, deep down you know you're the best. I've heard it's not the two pokie venues raking in all the cash, nor is it the generosity of Rob Gerrard, but is in fact the amount they save on not having to buy air freshener for the toilets because their sh*t don't stink. So come on, lets spend a week at North Adelaide, because that's the only way we'll know just how crap our own clubs actually are...

Hahaha!!!! Very well said. I have no problem with the North Adelaide club, but some (not all) of the North supporters on this forum really do think their club is the blueprint for success that everyone else should follow. :)

Who are these North supporters you're referring to and do you have some examples of their posts?
I quite often hear about this mysterious group of North supporters but noone seems to be able to provide names or egs.
Cheers in advance.

Wrong. Port hasn't always worn the picket fence since then.

Check the late 1940s and early 50s guernseys (1950 - I think Port adopted a similar design to the originator of the Black and White guernsey - Collingwood) Fos put the Port players back in Prison Bars and even then throughout their history the have been changes to the back of the guernsey IIRC in the 20s-30s the prson bars went all the way around the players - am I alone in appreciating that metaphor...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Post WWII the club wore several different guernsey designs.

There was a predominantly white guernsey with two thin black vertical stripes (could be an excellent away/clash guernsey.)

Another was a black guernsey with two white vertical stripes on either side of the V-neck.

And of course, the black and white vertical stripes.

The prison bars on the back of the guernsey has come and gone over the years.

IIRC, they featured as recently as the 1960s...

I like it. Good to see more green in there. My personal favourite Eagles guernsey since the first one.

The fact that you continually hear about them is a probable indication they exist. I don't wish to comment more on this except to say a number of supporters of other clubs have sent private messages to me from time to time commenting on this very matter. If you are being honest with yourself, you would know exactly who those people are.

As I support the notion that everyone is entitled the their opinion, be they right, wrong or indifferent, I really don't wish to make an issue of it.

That would be interesting if you could find out when that was. I've followed SANFL since 1964, and they've never had the bars on the back of their jumper in that time.

No honestly I have no idea and you have made an issue of it, Im really keen to find out who they are and examples of them being different to other supporters as I think you've mentioned it once before. I honestly have never seen it so must have missed them. If you don't let us know who they are and examples of what they've done so differently to other supporters I'll have to assume you're making up fibs AH.

I don't think it is wr, unlike some supporters of some clubs who just follow their club with rose coloured glasses, Im quite critical of my club or fellow supporters when they've done something I perceive as incorrect or blind faith. In fact Ive been on the end of a few repartees with my fellow fans over the years on many occasions.
Plus my head's too big to fit up my ginger rogers. ;)

Did the Woodville half or the Torrens half run over your mob in the prelim? Interesting discussion point.

Going on history you'd have to say the Woodville half gave you the start and Torrens finished it all off.

Being an old torrens fan id say it would be the other way round
But in the end it doesn't really matter because we won and you reds choked second year in a row against us .

Who's "we" Mickyj. Some hybrid team made up of two clubs so successful in their history, that they decided to merge in order to take over the world? It is clear from your post that your "we" is not WWT at all but just WT and "in the end" it clearly does matter or you wouldn't have reacted to wide_receivers comment in the first place.

So you won a game against the Roosters. Take a look at the premiership stats mate and whilst you're at it take at look at the wooden spoon stats. Think you will find the Roosters win hands down in one category and record the least in another.

I'll leave it to you to guess which is which

So why does it bother NA fans what jumper WWT wears .And Im sorry for using WE when describing the football that I am a paid up member of !!
Well you would win in the premiership stakes WWT have been ONE club since 1991 unless you count West Torrens flags then we equal the number that Glenelg has won in its history.

Now if YOU GO BACK to the 1970's you will find a game bewteen West Torrens and North Adelaide .WesT Torrens were 10 goals up at 1/2 time and lost the game that is why I answered wide recievers post .Because if woodville had been with us back then we could've won that game as well  .
And if you were at woodville oval in 2006 you would have seen ME chanting Woodville Woodville just like everyone else in the grandstand .

And just for your own record we have been 1 club since 1991 and I do not care what we are called and what jumper we wear just as long as we win and win !!!
