I checked the North "away" top I got by auction last year and it says "Made in Australia".
Then I checked the North Darwin Players shirt (like the guernsey but with short sleeves) I got last year and it says "Made in China".
Both are Jaxsports products.
It wouldn't suprise me if they were made overseas but screen printed here.

most guernseys would be made locally- Fitzroy Lions got theirs made by Port Rd Sports (who I believe do most Amateur League clubs)

I have to giggle the way threads get off topic, let's face it, with the "alleged" happenings down at West I'm sure where their guernsey's are made isn't high on their list of worries!

Westies are doing the right thing in standing down players who they feel have breached the team rules, you hear rumours many times of clubs in Victoria such as St Kilda where it is alleged that similar behaviour goes unchecked, when this happens and a culture is formed around it, the club is unlikley to be successfull. By making the hard decision and not being afraid to discipline players, Westies will do well.

Wayne Weidermann should have the total commited support of the club and its supporters, he is the right coach that will bring them into the five for an assualt on the finals sooner rather than later.

The Adelaide Crows are a good example, they allowed the playing group to dictate to coach Gary Ayres and sacked him as the blame for their problems, several years later, the very same problems are evident at the Crows, had they have done what Westies are doing now, they may well have had another premiership trophy in the cabinet. :!:

Just being the devils advocate here. Is playing with integrity better than winning at all costs?
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

I can assure you that is not factual ..... things were way off track in Ayres' last year and if the playing group were looking for a change let's just say they weren't Robinson Crusoe within the club. Look how quickly Neil Craig got the same playing group in to the top 4 in the following year.

Apologies for distracting an SANFL thread ...

They would have won premierships if they kept Kevin Morris, just like if we kept Merv Keane.

Alleged Problems at Westies

Postby sturtpeter » Fri Apr 06, 2007 7:38 pm

As far as where the jumpers were made I couldn't give a damn :o

My family the Kellners raced those pacers between 1978 and 1985.

Norm Armsden from Irymple near Mildura was our first trainer and then Malcolm Hann trained them

We raced: Smokey Anna, Wanderer, Dulittle, Vrondi, Oriental Princess, Good Result, Smokey Robin, Niblick, Colonel Lopez, Fawn Chief, the brilliant Achamar Chief, the speed-machine Agonistez, Wanderer won about 16 races for us and was The SATC Inc., Horse of the Year in 1978-79 :)

Malcolm Hann leased La Belle in Hindley Street yntil 1981 when Crazy Horse opened up.

Neil Kerley drove Achamar Chief to a then World Record at GDP in September 1980 and was later our guest back at La Belle 8)

Alleged problems at Westies

Postby sturtpeter » Fri Apr 06, 2007 7:43 pm

Just for the record, my late Grandfather Otto Ditter died in 1967 and was NEVER involved in Harness Racing or La Belle. His claim to fame outside of business was he was President of the German Club in Flinders ST.

I think you mean that where their guernseys are allegedly made is allegedy not high on their list of alleged worries. So maybe the thread topic is only allegedly off the alleged track. Just my alleged opinion ....

Sturt's jumpers are manufactured by Canterbury, a New Zealand sports apparel company who in all likelihood manufacture their goods in China.

..........There's a lot of rabbits in China.

Bottom line.

I'm not even sure how some of the listed 'alleged' incidents are worrying? I mean, moving the pokies to a South Road premises... yeah, that's a real worry for West - making squillions more out of their pokies by moving them to the heaviest traffic arterial in the state.

Alleged problems at westies

You obviously have a good heart and a strong character mate.

Do a bit more for the Community like PhilH, CK Wedgie etc and then you'll be in a position to criticise my passion for my late mum for whom I'm still greatly grieving.

Good on Westies for taking the stance they did ... Boy will boys at every footy club, but they need to be kept in line and thats what Weed and Turner and Co. are doing, I think they've handled this matter exceptionally well and full credit to them!!
