Exactly, he and his club should have learnt a nice lesson that day.
Funny part about it looking at the Elim Final in 2004 you would have sworn they hadn't learnt a thing. Same tactics, same result.
I wish we could play Westies in every final!

I think Craig Balme has also been sent off as well.

I could be wrong but it is my understanding that SANFL league or reserves players (State League) players are not neccessarily sent off after two reports, it is @ the umpires descretion if one of the events is serious enough to warrant a sending off.

Where as in minor leagues 2 reports is a send off. I had this pointed out to me in one of my first games umpireing reserves level in the NTFL (Darwin) a state league where I gave a player a red card after I booked him for his second report. My colleague asked me what the send off was for... fortunately it was serious enough to warrant a send off (very late charge with high contact i.e the ball was in the next post code). It was there I had that difference pointed out to me. I was used to umpiring in the minor Alice Springs league where used hand out more cards than a casino dealer.....

I'm not sure about the warranting reports to be sent off, just that two is a send off is my belief of the rule.

Brett Mancini (playing for Eagles at the time) is another to be sent off - in 1997.

For the record, McIntosh was reported for charging Craig Burrows and tripping (by hand) Scott Sutherland.

Balme was the 1st - reported for striking Romano Negri and for spitting at Wayne Weidemann. Ron Bettridge was the umpire who reported him both times.

I remember it well, was about the only decent thing Burrows did. Great day.

The SANFL applies this law if a player is reported twice in a match by field Umpire for separate incidents (only a Field Umpire can order the player off). A Field Umpire may send a player off of the field for the remainder of the match if a single reportable incident is extremely severe.

As I said I could be wrong with respect to the SANFL. You are right with respect to the 2 report law, under law 20.3 2 reports is a send off but the laws of Australain football allow for leagues (controlling bodies) to make variations if they see fit. Hence the why law 20.3 may not necessarily apply to SANFL competition (league or reserves)

Dunno about the final reserves score but it would have been close to a 5 goal win to the Dogs from what I last heard.

Might be some interesting repercussions at North this week after the late 2 ommissions.

hopefully tonights reseve grade score indicates the Dogs have more depth this year

as we know, last year NA won the reserve grade very convincingly and the dogs finished bottom 3

signs look good for the dogs in 2007

Spelly 1, Tassie 0  (was there ever any doubt)

It is law 20.3 in the VCFL Handbook, as law 20.1 states: "this law applies to all competitions other than AFL"

I was at the game and didn't see James Gowans get reported. Anyone shed any light on what it was for?? Wilson got reported but should get off, it was the most ridiculous report I've ever seen.

The new recruits look great. Really impressed with Grima, Callinan and Lawry. Thought our first half was pretty ordinary. Had plenty of the ball but our use of it was woeful. We seemed to kick into gear in the second half. Not a bad effort for the first game.

Ladhams looks like he's been eating plenty of pies over summer.

the dogs too have a couple of key players to come back in Yves Sibenaler (overseas) and Quinton Graham (shoulder) and Chad O'Sullivan (Groin)

Cowans played in the reserves along with Musolino and Schiller. Giles, Havelberg and Ware all played league. Hayes who played quite a bit of league last year was also in the reserves. Looks like we have a lot more depth this year with Sibenaler, Graham, O'Sullivan and Aufderheide all to come back yet.
